Being human.
I like to use pencil and paper and keyboard to help make sense of the things inside and around me.
To turn the volume down on the voice(s) in my head and make room for a little bit of peace.
The shape and texture and contour of words —?they’re like well-worn pebbles in my hand that I turn over and over just to feel their warmth and smoothness.
They help me solve the problem of being human (or at least a small piece of that puzzle), of what it means to be living on — and contributing to —?this planet.
And they point to where I can make a meaningful contribution in my field in a time when life is moving at the speed of tech.
But sometimes, someone else frames up what I’m thinking in a way that’s far better than I could ever do. Today, that someone is Seth Godin writing on the future of AI and what our role alongside this technology might be, if we’re up to the task.
Being human is the last problem AI is going to solve… Tell me you’re an expert at seeing humans for who they really are and what they’re afraid of and what they want to become and that you’re good at telling a story that’s true and that lights up their eyes.
For the foreseeable future, there’s going to be room for (a need for) storytellers who can do just that. I’m ready for it. Put me in, Coach.
