Being (Human 2.0) in the 4IR Workplace.
Maybe there's something to be said about Human Resilience after all.
In my line of work, I’m fortunate to be in a position that has a helicopter view of the employment industry within the ever-evolving Tech sector. ?
On the one side, as a Sourcing and Acquisition Specialist within IT, I get to engage with a spectrum of candidates from those straight out of School, College or University all the way to those that are highly qualified, well experienced IT professionals.
On the other side, as an outsourced Recruitment partner to local and international clients, my vantage point allows me to observe and gain a deeper insight into what Tech Start-ups, SMEs (ISPs and MSPs) and larger Corporate clients are demanding right now from applicants. ?
For sure nobody wants to go through a global pandemic again, but nobody would dispute the fact that the last 2 years has propelled us a few years forward in tech for the better. Businesses have had to evolve and adapt quickly, reducing “bricks and mortar” office space, to make a move from cumbersome onsite servers to cloud-based infrastructure that have enabled us to work remotely, securely and easily with the ability to seamlessly engage with teams across the planet.
Online interviewing, recorded video and assessment platforms provide the benefit of fast tracking the hiring process. Hiring managers are now better equipped with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning software that offer detailed analytical insight into applicants’ skillset, personalities, even values and work ethic. ?
So, with all the tech changes and advancement, it’s encouraging to know that the following “human” qualities are still vital in this new working environment.
?I’d encourage you to take cognisance of what Employers will always look for from stand out candidates : ?
Critical thinking: Being Inquisitive, Intuitive, solutions-focused and problem-solving ability?
Creativity:?Lateral thinking, innovative out of the box and (reasonably!) weird thinkers!

William Pollard, American Physicist and Clergyman (fascinating combination I'd like to explore in another article!) had this to say about Innovation and Learning...
"Innovation and Learning go hand in hand... the arrogance of success is to believe that what you did yesterday will be sufficient for tomorrow."
