Being health isn't a talent. It's a skill (you can learn!)

Being health isn't a talent. It's a skill (you can learn!)

Have you ever said to yourself, “If I would just do what I know to do, I’d feel better, look better and (to quote Saturday night live) people would like me!” This statement is usually quickly followed by some kind of reasoning as to why you haven’t been doing things. And the reasons are legitimate. They aren’t a crutch or an excuse or you just being lazy. There are real-life situations that stop you from eating great and exercising enough to be in shape.

Things happen.?

And this is exactly why you need a coach. We can learn how to do what is good for us in the middle of life. In the middle of job changes, schedule conflicts, traveling, stress, babies, kids, college, aging…all the things that are real reasons for time and money and energy drains.

Coaching, (especially with me!) gives you:

·????? Confidence to slow down and make decisions instead of reacting
·????? Awareness of patterns, behaviors, habits and reasons for unhealthy actions
·????? Practices with new thought patterns and behaviors to create change
·????? Support and courage to make difficult decisions easier
·????? Strategies for making lasting change without losing your fun

The upside of making an effort to get healthy, is that you don’t have to be perfect or even very good at it. In fact, ANY effort in the right direction makes a difference. But, what if you did 50% of the things you were taught to do? The coaching data says that even half-hearted consistency at applying changes creates significant health improvements like weight loss, fat loss and inches lost. Imagine if you upped the ante to 75 or 80% consistent, not even that close to perfect...then you’d be at your goal. You’d be healthy, fit, wearing smaller sized clothing, no longer worrying about food and fitness. You’d have things handled.

How relaxing does that sound?

The reality is you can learn to be healthy. It’s not a talent or gift that some have and others don’t. If you need to make some health changes, you can learn to do them and stick to them forever. But don’t expect to find the real-life answers by the fast track or quick fix. Real, lasting change takes time and energy and usually an investment that costs you. Don’t wonder if it’s worth it. If you COULD have done it already, you already WOULD have.

This isn’t to say that poor behaviors should make you feel shame or guilt or inadequate. Frankly, having a negative emotional response to the realization that you need some help is strong confirmation that you actually do, but you’re fighting it. If you’re excited or comforted by knowing that you CAN have a healthy life, you’re ready. If you’re uneasy, anxious, angry, offended and put off in general, then wait. Keep in touch, but don’t force the change issue with yourself. Let the idea of learning how to be healthy simmer inside, like a good cup of coffee, and when you’re ready, let’s get started.

IF YOU’RE READY TO START COACHING:

Go to www.KLivFit.com and send me a message. I’m looking particularly for 40+ year old moms to start a new 12 week session, but am always available for any good challenge.
