On Being Grounded.

On Being Grounded.

"Be grounded. The earth and the ground you are standing on is something you assume and lean on unconditionally."

This is a statement that stuck with me in a conversation I had recently. It instantly made me visualise the earth under me collapsing, and I immediately looked at my feet firmly planted on the ground, reassuring myself.

Later, the conversation stayed with me and evoked a couple of things:

  1. Practicing gratitude - being grateful for the smallest things in our lives, such as the ground we stand on. We talk about practicing gratitude but it is a conscious decision to inculcate it into our daily lives.
  2. Being grounded - actively being grounded in your energy and what you bring to the table. It is easy to get swept away and losing who you are in a world that actively tries to convince you that you aren't enough. Being grounded, in who you are, what you want, what your values are is important.
  3. Support systems - I looked around in my life at all the visible, invisible, tangible and intangible support systems that enrich and enable me to live the life I am living. I saw gratitude and respect for all of them as well as reaffirming that I am part of something bigger.

I jotted this line in my notes, because it resonated to me so much. Being grounded is an active practice which keeps evolving for me. This conversation served as a reminder to practice gratitude and grounding and I hope it impacts you in some way as well :)
