Being A Good WeWorker

As many of you know, I'm a big WeWorker. I've spent time in WeWorks across nine states and seven countries. In fact, I'm writing this from a lovely WeWork in Medellín, Colombia.
There are some easy ways people can be better coworkers. Below are my top pet peeves and tips to avoid annoying your co-working colleagues:
?? Clean Up
It's strange that this needs to be said to fellow adults, but WeWork isn’t a café. The staff aren't responsible for clearing your table or removing your trash. Throw away your garbage and put your dishes in the sink. Sometimes I find myself bussing someone else's workspace—and that’s just rude.
?? Conference Rooms
Don't hover outside the door five minutes before your booking starts, waiting for people to leave. If someone booked the room for 30 minutes, it's theirs for the full 30 minutes—you don’t have access before that. So, don't peer through the window.
But don't overstay your booking! Your 30 minutes don't include five extra minutes to wrap things up. Be ready to leave when your time is up. If you need extra time to set up or tear down, book the room accordingly.

?? Wear Earbuds on Calls
If you're in a shared space, please, for the love of all things holy, use earbuds. Nobody wants to hear your call or whatever you're listening to. I promise, your conference call isn't interesting, and broadcasting it to the entire room doesn't make you look cool.
I’ve even seen people watching YouTube videos or playing games without earbuds—completely wild behavior.
?? Don’t Be a Power Hog
Charging your devices is totally fine, but don't monopolize outlets. If there are limited plugs, leave some free for others. And please, don’t stretch your charger across a walkway—nobody wants to dodge your laptop cord.
?? Let’s Make WeWork Better for Everyone
We all want our workdays to be smooth and enjoyable, and that’s easier when everyone respects shared spaces. A little effort goes a long way in creating a positive environment for all of us.
What other behaviors have you found frustrating in co-working spaces? Any tips for making WeWork life better?
