Being A Freelance Technology Journalist: The Inspiration
Hello, I'm a freelance technology journalist providing tech writing servicing to a variety of local and remote clients. If the title and the beginning of this article sound like something you were looking for, keep digging because we are on the same page. Except that you are on the other side, either a wanna-be writer or my next boss! Either way, I am still obliged because I have the inspiration.
Technology Journalism is Fun
Yes, it is fun because technology writing involves a lot of reading to keep the pace on what's going on in the world of tech. That's a lot of fun, I wouldn't be betting my career on it if it wasn't. I'm a certified veterinary doctor and I abandoned my five years of academic education to join the IT league. My vet friends call me a traitor!
I always keep a keen eye on science and tech news, and I have tags on various listings on Facebook feed, google news and other social media accounts to make sure nothing important slips by. I deliver quality content to my clients, on time and always with something new and interesting.
Being a Freelance Technology Journalist Means Freedom
At least for me because I am living in a world that's changing. Pushing myself and compressing my sphere of knowledge to a corner wouldn't be a bad option if there's enough funding for research or great money was involved. We all hate running, climbing, pushing ourselves against the gradient.
If that's so, I choose the different. I choose the freedom. I choose the peace of mind. What good is the money if I spent half my life running after it and through it all I am to just keep digging myself empty? There's nothing bad with wanting to evolve and learn alongside your trajectory.
So when I write, I write as much as I can with my heart. Once that limit is crossed, I'm out! Both in terms of interest and energy. I take that time to study, the internet is like the mother earth speaking to me and telling me, "see how I am driving the evolution?" You read all kind of news, the good, the bad, the ugly. Technology and science updates help release some negative pressure.
For the Love of Science and Technology
I am not ready to quit on my biology yet. That's why I am also an avid reader of science journals and science news. The shift from veterinary sciences to technology writing allowed me to observe professionalism and my potential career options outside the box. That's what we all hate, don't we? Doing things for money, not for the love of it.
A technology journalist should not divide the focus because the road is clear. It is risky! The whole set up is. Kickstarting your career in science and tech journalism will test your patience and sometimes test it to your limits. The enthusiasts don't get broken down easily and that's the way to do it. Fall, feel bad, but get up and try again.
Freelance Technology Journalist and The First Celebration
Be happy with just enough money to sustain just yourself. Your initial goal should be your independence to not to ask for money from your parents, guardians, and friends. Once you are up to that point, it is celebration time because... congrats! You have earned the diploma and now you are a self-described Freelance Technology Journalist.
Of course, no one gives you the certificate. Think about it, who would you rather take your happiness and reward from than your own hard work? Reading this, if you are smiling... that's there your energy and true potential speaking up! If you couldn't feel it reading the bolded one-liner, well don't be upset. Don't loose hope. I celebrated my first celebration a year ago, it does feel like a great victory, every time!
Point being, journalism is a tough job and takes your inner interest. If you wish to write just for the money, try digital market and follow Neil Patel because you don't wanna end up taking the bite from your brother who is really working hard for it. Digital Marketing does encompass tech but not strictly and never whole-fully-serious-flourishingly. What the Ungli!
My Inspiration for Being a Freelance Technology Journalist
What is the true inspiration for me? It is freelance writing. It is Technology writing. It is journalism without a boundary. It. Is. Everything!
The cutting-edge!
I wish to live on the forefronts of technological and scientific advancement. I can't be a veterinarian, genetic engineer, tech entrepreneur, game developer, programmer, fiction writer, and electronic engineer at the same time. Reading about all of them, helps me imagine that at least I am living with them. That's happy imagination and it's enough.
The undying diversity of my interests!
I wanted a convergence point for all of my interests and that's hard to pull out. I had been wracking my mind trying to solve out this equation, telling myself at every point, "what the hell are you doing with your life?" I had gained many skills, but none of them to perfection. I didn't think it's ever going to work out until it did.
The Death of Needless Reasoning!
Persistence and preserving of my cause helped me realize very that while I had been complaining about my journey and lack of opportunities, in the back of my head many things were happening. I am finding the solutions now, I'm getting more ideas than ever. But most important of all, I forget to check in on how it now makes me feel. For the first time in my life, I feel damn good!
Freelance Technology Journalist: One Word, One Rule
Free, Freedom! Free I am now and freedom is the word that guides me. I feel liberated from the torturing and the needless reasoning of why I'm heading down this road. The success is still millions of miles away from me but that's not stopping me, that's not even trying to stop me! I keep losing the grip from this rejuvenating feeling, doesn't matter how many times, the joys of being a freelance technology journalist keeps coming back to me.
