Being Eco Sustainable

I re-reading a recent article on Eco Resorts in Indonensia by @designanthology “Sustainable Mission” highlighting a select eco resort in Indonesia that fully commited to take pro active approach in reducing their carbon footprints.

Points to highlight that a majority of hotels and resort in Indonesia are only doing this just with a very minimum effort and relying heavily on guests proactive approach and their self awarness to take part in their sustainability program. I personally believe its should a full on support of the hotel operators, by owners and fully awarness by the hotel all line of staffing to execute this 365 days.

There has been a growing awarness and willingness amongst the guest in the upper luxury hotels & resort to take active part thus footing a higher room rate in return of a full enviromentally sustainable hotel / resort.

I remember my experience in setting up a hotel project with one of Indonesia property giants Agung Podomoro Land. Our mission at that time to build a hotel that can be applied in any business / suburban area with comfort for the guests as well blending in being part of local neighborhood.

The hotel is not in the luxury bracket a premium 3 stars or a mid level 4 stars tops with reasonable ROI period. We were blessed that the owning company gives us a lot of opportunity to explore options to make this project in line with the brief.

Eco sustainable is one of the objective that we want achieve throughout the hotels development. We pick Diversey as our suppliers partner as they provided us with eco friendly water based cleaning / sanitzing agents and dispenser to use simplfilying and keeping the usage under control.

Implementing VRV (variable refrigerant volume) Air condition system in cooling our guests rooms, all guest area (meeting room, lobby etc) which in the long run are more effective in reducing the electricity bill.

These are just some major investment that we do then to be sure eco sustainable hotel. In doing not it will less carbon footprint but also achieving the targeted bottomline.

Moving towards eco sustainable is definitely something worth to focus on moving forward post pandemic. Guest will support and hotel owners will be in favor in well achieved GOP.
