Being Disruptable

Whilst being disruptive is often seen as a negative quality, I make no bones about the fact that I’m a cage-rattler. It wasn’t always thus, and I spent far too long being a ‘good girl’ and a people pleaser.
The more I’ve settled into my dotage, owned my introversion with a sense of pride, and accepted my mission to shift the extraversion bias, the more I’ve realised that being nice on its own doesn’t shift anything. It doesn’t even create ripples!
I’m very clear on the fact that my intention is to disrupt the status quo where it isn’t working, so I always aim to be a positive disruptor.
Yet, I often find that people are so set in their ways and intent on not seeing what’s not working that waking them from slumber can be a tough gig. One thing I am sure of though, is that sleepwalking through life is not the answer. ??
?? Recently, I recorded podcasts about living without regrets and envisioning our future so that we stand more chance of living a fulfilled life.
In a world that often feels like a never-ending cycle of routines and conformity, it's easy to slip into a state of complacency and sleepwalk through life. We cling to our comfort zones like a safety blanket, avoiding risks and challenges which ultimately stunt our personal growth.
?? But what if I told you that the key to a fulfilling and exciting life lies in your ability to be disruptable? It's time to break free from the mundane and embrace the power of disruption to take control of your destiny.
Disruptability is not readily defined in any dictionary, but it's a concept that's been quietly changing the lives of those who dare to explore its possibilities. It's about being open to change, actively seeking new experiences, and challenging the status quo. It's the antidote to the mundane and the cure for the sleepwalking epidemic that plagues society.
Here are a few compelling reasons why I believe we should start living a disruptable life right now:
?? Grow beyond the comfort zone
Most of us settle into comfortable routines because they provide a sense of security. However, this comfort zone can quickly become a self-imposed prison, limiting our potential and personal growth. Embracing disruptability means deliberately venturing beyond this cozy cocoon and exploring more of what’s at our learning edge. It's in this unknown where you'll find the magic of discovery and personal development.
?? Welcome change as a lifelong friend
Life is constantly evolving, and change is an inevitable part of it. Instead of fearing change, make it your ally. Embracing disruptability means viewing change as an opportunity rather than a threat. When you actively seek out new experiences and adapt to them, you harness the power of change to shape your life in ways you never thought possible.

?? Foster innovation and creativity
Innovation and creativity thrive in an environment of disruption. By challenging existing norms and questioning the status quo, you open the door to fresh ideas and unique solutions. Disruptability fuels your ability to think outside the box and create new pathways for success, so the impossible becomes possible.
?? Cultivate resilience
When you regularly disrupt your life, you become more resilient in the face of adversity. You learn to adapt, bounce back from setbacks, and keep moving forward. Disruptability strengthens your mental fortitude, making you better equipped to tackle life's challenges head-on.
? Uncover unknown passions
Many of us have dormant passions and talents that remain buried beneath the surface because we've never given them a chance to flourish. Being disruptable means exploring these uncharted territories of your soul and uncovering the things that truly ignite your passion and purpose.
?Live a fulfilling life
Life is short, and every day is a precious gift. By embracing disruptability, you make the most of your time on this planet. You create a life filled with purpose, adventure, and meaningful experiences that leave you feeling truly alive.
?? Leave a lasting legacy
When you choose disruptability, you're not just living for yourself; you're creating a legacy for future generations. By challenging the norm and pursuing your dreams, you inspire others to do the same. You become a beacon of change and a source of inspiration for those who are still sleepwalking through life.
In conclusion, it's time to wake up and realise that the path to a fulfilling life is not paved with conformity and routine. Instead, it's found in the bold pursuit of disruptability. So, expand your comfort zone, embrace change, and take control of your destiny. The only way to truly live is to disrupt yourself and awaken to the incredible potential that lies within you.

9 个月I am a unique mix of 'disruptable' and rigid. As a TS individual I depend a lot on structure and 'sameness' in terms of my day to day functioning however in my mindset and decision making I am very open-minded (In fact, I reckon I should say open-hearted because for me it begins with heart before mind) and willing to accept change as need be. I think what we need to ensure is that we understand the difference between disruptable and interruptible, or we run the risk of becoming a doormat for others.

9 个月I see complacency as a fear-response. The origin of this fear may be rooted in our past experiences or ongoing adverse circumstances. This often convinces us to stay in the comfort zone because we feel that at least we know what we are dealing with and how to cope with it. As you superbly explain in your article that innovation and growth happen when we embrace change and are ready to venture into the unknown. I also believe that when we take the courageous step to explore 'beyond the wall', we advance into more meaningful liaisons and experience the joys we did not even realize were waiting for us with open arms. Mind you, I am not an introvert, cautious yes, introverted no yet I feel there is so much treasure in this article and your overall messaging.

9 个月So much goodness in this - I love your definition of being a disruptor and I was nodding along saying yes! Yes! In my head of course, as a fellow introvert there are many disruptive thoughts running inwardly and here’s to getting more outwardly disruptive! (That’s kind of the plan with my YouTube channel but the journey has just begun!)
