Being Diplomatic is the key to success!

Today I'm writing this article from my new home away from home "Washington DC". Approximately, three months ago, I relocated to the Nation's Capital to assist the same ownership group that I worked with in California. I was granted the opportunity to manage the Sales Efforts at "The Normandy Hotel". A hidden gem in the middle of Kalorama neighborhood, tucked among the stately Worldwide Embassies and only a few steps away from lively DuPont Circle restaurants and nightlife in Adams Morgan.

I have lived in Maryland, Vermont, Tennessee, New York, and California.I made some life long true friends back in my Maryland days. I also had the opportunity to explore different nuances of the Hospitality Industry across the country. The most fun fact about relocating to a new city is the chance to write your history. If it is a hotel take over or working on a brand new building you have a chance to explore the market and expose yourself and the company that you are representing.

I took advantage of my time in New York City when I hosted students of different backgrounds JapanSaudi ArabiaColombiaIndia, Korea, Russia, Brazil, Jordan, Italy. I have learned very quickly that "Diplomacy" can help you become a better person and to get a better understanding of the expectations of a foreign guest.

I love to network with people of different backgrounds, which is essential in developing strong partnerships. Today, I had a great meeting with one very important partner and he said... you are a good sales person, because he was surprised on the number of appointments that I had scheduled in a short time.

I'm excited to discover what Washington DC has to offer and I believe that engaging with the Washington Diplomats is the key to success in the Nation's Capital.
