Being Different; A Blessing & A Curse
I don't see things the same way as most people and that's ok.
NEW UPDATE RIGHT AT THE BOTTOM ????
(A letter written at my coworking space for you, the community - Shhared Website)
I did some thinking over Christmas in Scotland and here are my thoughts. You might get something useful from it and at the same time, you just maybe able to help me.
Most of the people I look up to, perhaps coincidentally are unapologetically themselves and I've always admired that about them. However, that isn't my advice to you.
"To thy own self be true"
Is a quote I've heard maybe a thousand times. As a Brit we have Shakespeare fed to us from an early age but at 37, I'm starting to be skilled at applying it to my life.
One of my first 'mentors' was a great man called Made. I didn't see him as that at the time but looking back, he was all that and more. Back then he taught me a lot about myself and even more about sacrifice.
Today, I realise his sacrifice was to be a platform for others and to give them opportunities to grow. In doing that he took ownership of my losses. I focused on benefiting from the learning experiences while developing a taste for success.
In a way that's what great investors do. They enrich lives with their means so that the potential people or ideas have, can be realised.
So what is this post all about?
I want to further articulate what I need.
I was clear a few months ago in an social media post that I need business help to realise the mission and my objectives but who would I like to work with?
The answer to that is in my vision - something that is clearer today than ever before.
I am a creator. I want to innovate and I want to be successful. Success for me is shared (no pun intended). It's not about me - it's about us as a culture and a movement.
Being a solo entrepreneur and founder of a boot-strapped business is a sacrifice but...
It's a gift to work here. And that is how people I serve want to feel about what they do.
What I'm building is an environment where talented creators feel like they can not just learn but also win, connect and grow with others in a supportive community.
I think about evolution a lot. I take pride in what I do and what it represents - that's what motivates me.
I accept I can't and shouldn't do this alone. So I'm looking for fellow passionate people with the will an ability to take this potential and run with it with me.
I had a great conversation this week at Shhared where I said, lack of experience or a Masters doesn't matter. You can't build a solid future on the papers of the past. You need heart and soul.
Remember entrepreneurs and creators are often lauded for their passion and drive.
My question to you...
Things are improving at their own pace. Given time, most things get better. However, through better relationships and ambitious collaborations, we can be the change we want to see right now.
Do you have the resources to make a change but miss something or more accurately someone? Let me know your thoughts in the comments or by DM/PM.
If any part of this article has made you think or feel, please share it to others who could benefit from it or help me.
Thanks,
