Being a dad and a small business owner.
We know being a dad comes first. It's why we help take care of the rest, so small businesses like BoozeDogs can focus on what matters most.

Being a dad and a small business owner.

Joe McGowen -?Owner

2018 FedEx Small Business Grant Winner?

Q: How does running a business impact your life as a father??

A: Running a?business impacts?my role as a father beyond the?obvious element of time.?It allows me to set a good example for them by demonstrating the process of having an original idea, pouring myself into it, and experiencing?outcomes that reflect my efforts.??

?

Q: What does your day-to-day?schedule look like, as a father and business owner??

A: Booze Dogs has an operating model that allows me to orchestrate it from home due to having partners that?produce, market, and fulfill orders nationwide. Running Booze Dogs is all about communication with these partnerships. The modern wonders of technology allow me to facilitate this communication when?convenient after prioritizing family life.?

?

Q: How does FedEx help you juggle those tasks??

A: FedEx enables the balance of Booze Dogs and fatherhood by their reliable service within my drop-ship model with?my 3PL. It is quite seamless as I?don't have to?print and pack my own shipments, worry about whether the order will arrive on?time,?or allocate time to address customer complaints. It frees up a load of time to focus on growth and being a father.?

?

Q: What is the most important lesson you want to teach your kids??

A: The most important lesson I am?teaching my?kids is the entrepreneurial?spirit. This entails having confidence in your creativity, ideas, ability to execute, as well as having the humility to fail - not panic - and to learn from your mistakes.?

?

Q: What are your kids discovering about the world of business, as they watch you work???

A: They are learning that it is hard, really hard, and without an immediate payoff. It takes patience and requires an inner joy in what you do, because you have to enjoy the process when the payoff is not immediate. They are also learning the importance of partnership. Booze Dogs is about companionship. None of us are what we are alone. No one succeeds or should navigate failure alone. Companionship in community is vital...in life and in business.?

FedEx is a fraudulent company. Fedex do not want to admit the mistake or even bear its consequences.

I had to work Fathers Day every year. I had to work any holiday that fell on a Sunday or Monday as that was my assigned schedule at the hub. It was one of the top reasons I left FedEx. #familyismoreimportant
