Is being busy holding back your success?

Is being busy holding back your success?

Life is busy. Business is busy. I get that. I see it all around me.

But I also see frustration.

Frustration that success isn't coming as fast, or as strong as you want.

What is it that's holding you back?

Most business owners are deep in the guts of their business. They're dealing with the day-to-day. No time to step back and look at the bigger picture. They are in the weeds, at the grassroots level.

When they do pop their heads up to try something, it's a bit scary. It feels uncomfortable. They don't fully commit. It doesn't work so they dive back into the comfort and protection of the weeds.

All sorts of things can contribute to this behaviour.

  • Fear of failure,
  • Feeling you are not good enough,
  • Imposter syndrome,
  • Not knowing what to do,
  • Not having a network of successful business owners to draw on.

The Line of Choice

It all boils down to the line of choice:

You can choose to work below the line.

Blame others. Make excuses. Stay in denial. It's your B.E.D. and you can lie in it.

OR

You can choose to work above the line.

You can take accountability for your actions. You can grasp ownership of the situation. You can take responsibility.

You may not be able to change what is happening around you and to you.

BUT, you can change how you respond to it.

If something doesn't work the first time, don't just discard it. Ask yourself why it didn't work for you, especially if you've seen it work for other businesses.

Be curious rather than judgemental.

Choose to work on your business

This is the single biggest single thing you can do to improve your success.

Business owners who consistently spend time working on their business have much greater success.

They schedule the time when they are at their best. For some, it's the early morning. For others, it's the end of the day.

They schedule 30 - 90 minutes every day.

They do things like:

  • Create marketing content
  • Monitor and learn from analytics
  • Create new products
  • Improve the automation within their business

and much , much more.

My planner

I use a paper-based daily planner.

I block out 90 minutes daily, sometimes in separate 30-minute blocks, but usually as one block.

I use that time to build my business.

No client work. No distractions.

Total focus on building MY business.

Why LinkedIn?

With over a billion profiles, LinkedIn is the most valuable resource for business owners.

It's also the most misused resource. So many businesses stay in the weeds because they don't understand how to get value from using LinkedIn.

Some fly above the weeds buzzing around like an angry hornet stinging other users with sales pitches. That doesn't work either

On my daily planner, you'll see a Daily Habits section. There are two LinkedIn check-in tasks there. That's just one of the small habits I teach clients to adopt to get value from LinkedIn.

It's one of the many nuggets from my Mastery online programme. Linked Business Mastermind get full access to that programme plus weekly clinics to help them put it to good use. There's a whole lot more to help you use LinkedIn included. Visit the page to find out more, or book a discovery call here: Mastermind Discovery Call
