Being in business for yourself
Lately I've published a few LinkedIn Posts about choosing a Company Name when you're in business for yourself. Many people do this wrong and choose company names that put them in the same organization with thousands of other LinkedIn members, despite their best intentions. Examples: About 700 thousand people in the company "Self Employed" and 12 thousand in "Self-Employed", despite each being defined as a "0-1" person entity. (Why you'd create a company with zero people in it is beyond me but LinkedIn apparently lets it be done.)
The main thing people do wrong is to omit a key step -- they fail to create a company page based upon their own name.
You need to create this page to have a unique "tag" for your own business and to have a single place where you can detail all you want about your company with no confusion with another member.
To get started, go to the main LinkedIn page. (I'll use the browser version, not the cellphone to keep things clear.)
Click For Business.
Scroll down.
Click Create a Company Page +. Note that on many browsers, that choice may be hidden beyond the bottom of the screen. You need to scroll down to see it. That is really my main point in writing this article!
Click Company -- Small, medium, and large businesses
To avoid going over what's already well-done by LinkedIn, I'm just going to refer to https://business.linkedin.com/marketing-solutions/linkedin-pages/best-practices for the rest.
Good luck with becoming your own business entity, if you don't already work for someone else!

6 个月A LinkedIn company page is a no-brainer for the self-employed Sid, I couldn't agree more. They're an important FREE online asset and give you lots of scope for promoting your business and getting greater visibility. You can even comment on posts as your page for greater name recognition.
