Being on both sides of the interview

Being on both sides of the interview

I've been fortunate to be a small part of the news cycle surrounding the commercial real estate market.

As chair of NAIOP's communication committee, I've recently been interviewed by CBC, CityNews, and the Edmonton Sun regarding the commercial real estate market and the government's emergency commercial rent assistance (CECRA) program.

I also had the pleasure of being on the other side of the process when I interviewed Matt Woolsey of York Realty. We covered a lot of topics, including Edmonton's industrial market, the value of mentors, and some wisdom from arctic explorer Ernest Shackleton.

It's a bit of a long video, but you're sure to get a few laughs. Watch the first few minutes to find out which one of us wasn't wearing pants!

Our team is also covering the effects COVID will have on the different commercial real estate asset classes. We've already addressed retail and office, with our prediction for industrial coming this Friday.

The past two months have been challenging, but there appears to be a cautious rise in optimism within the business community. Recent reports even show China's demand for oil is already back at pre-covid levels.

Let's hope our economy can open back up and we can safely get back to business!
