When my son was in middle school, he wrote an essay about what he wanted to become. He said there that he wanted to be an average person.

In the next parent-teacher conference, his teacher expressed deep concern that he wasn't ambitious enough.?

However, when I thought about it, I realized that being average - in all aspects of life - is no less than an achievement!

Many of us don't realize that life is multi-faceted. To be successful in life, we often focus on one of them and ignore others, which makes us below average in many human qualities.

Being a well rounded person is much more important in my opinion, than being a 5.0 scholar without having any activities, leadership or service accomplishments. The average Jack-of-all-trades is awesome!
