Recently, our team embarked on an unforgettable journey aboard CRUCERO AMAZONAS in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon, discovering one of the world’s most remote and biodiverse destinations. This adventure is perfect for those seeking a deep connection with nature and an immersive experience into the vibrant flora, fauna, and tribal cultures of the region. With a capacity for 20 passengers, AMAZONAS is equipped with four skiffs for intimate river excursions, allowing guests to explore the breathtaking landscape up close. Their bilingual crew and guides, seasoned in both local and international cruise services, are dedicated to delivering an exceptional charter experience tailored to adventurers from around the globe.?
Day 1: Iquitos – Nauta/Nauta Ca?o?
Upon landing in Iquitos, the CRUCERO AMAZONAS team warmly welcomed the brokers before they embarked on a scenic bus ride to Nauta. From there, an auxiliary boat awaited to transfer them to the CRUCERO AMAZONAS, their home for the next five days. Along the way, they spotted pink and gray dolphins swimming alongside them in the Amazonian river. Once onboard, the captain and crew welcomed them, followed by a tour of the yacht’s common areas. The CRUCERO team also reviewed important safety and evacuation protocols while Chef Luis prepared a delicious meal featuring local delicacies.?
After dinner, the adventure truly began! The brokers boarded a skiff to visit the nearby native community of Buenos Aires for a nighttime hike. Oswaldo, their knowledgeable guide, ensured they were well-prepared as they ventured into the Amazon at night. They kept an eye out for bats darting over the water—a telltale sign of piranhas swimming just below. During their hike, they encountered fascinating Amazonian wildlife, including tarantulas, toads, bullet ants, and the elusive Amazonian black scorpion, Tityus obscurus. Oswaldo encouraged everyone to get close, emphasizing that their safety was a top priority. A nurse accompanied all hikes to ensure the brokers had a memorable and secure experience.?
Day 2: Nauta/Nauta Ca?o – Yanayacu Pucate – San Regis?
On the second day of their Amazonian journey, they started the morning greeted by a delicious breakfast prepared by Chef Luis in the CRUCERO AMAZONAS dining room, where 180-degree panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows offer a unique, uninterrupted view of wildlife as they cruised along. After breakfast, the brokers boarded a skiff and traveled back to the community of Buenos Aires to take part in an important conservation effort: protecting the endangered, yellow-spotted river turtle. Under Oswaldo's guidance, they learned about the importance of preserving this species and actively participated in the efforts by carefully placing turtle eggs into man-made nests within a protected area created by the local community.?
“During the dry season, we have the opportunity to help plant eggs from the yellow spotted turtle. They were endangered a couple of years ago but now the organization of Peru plus the local communities are trying to help this species. Now one of the biggest things we are trying to implement is that tourism can be part of this big change.” shares Oswaldo?
Next, they boarded the skiff as the crew navigated downstream to a local spot known for piranha fishing using local artisan fishing rods. They got an up-close look at the piranhas before heading back to CRUCERO AMAZONAS for a well-deserved lunch. That afternoon, the brokers took the opportunity to relax onboard—enjoying views from the jacuzzi on the aft deck while sipping their favorite cocktails as CRUCERO AMAZONAS continued its journey.??
That evening, they set off on a guided river tour to Yanayacu, deep within the breathtaking Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. As they canoed through the nearby lagoon, Oswaldo helped them spot the vibrant wildlife inhabiting this region, including playful sloths, colorful macaws, and inquisitive monkeys.?
After exploring the lagoon, they transitioned to an exhilarating hike along suspended bridges that stretched high above the rainforest canopy. As they crossed the bridge, a refreshing breeze reminded them of how high they were, and they enjoyed stunning views of the lush landscape below. As night fell and the full moon rose, they returned by canoe, spotlighting the tributary before heading back to CRUCERO AMAZONAS for a well-deserved, restful night’s sleep after a day filled with adventure.?
?Day 3: San Regis – Las Palmas – Nauta Ca?o/Nauta?
The brokers enjoyed a relaxing morning before gearing up for their guided tour to the Las Palmas village at 10 am. Oswaldo led them to the local village, where they had the chance to immerse themselves in local culture with an up-close look at the native community's school, church, and everyday life. Upon arrival, they met Mr. Julio, his family, and local artisans, who showcased a variety of handmade crafts. Julio demonstrated the step-by-step process of how these artisans extracted colors from natural herbs, tree bark, and roots to dye the fibers used in their creations.??
While in Las Palmas, Julio led a trek in search of friendly sloths and slithering anacondas. He expertly handled both for a memorable photo-op, inviting the brokers to hold the friendlier of the two. As the brokers continued to explore the lush forest surrounded by towering ancient trees, Oswaldo shared insights about the environment and fun facts about local wildlife, including the Kambo frog, known for its traditional use in South American medicine.??
Their trek concluded with a visit to a local family who demonstrated blow dart techniques—an essential hunting method in the region. The locals showcased the artisan-made bows and arrows, explaining how blowguns, spears, and bows serve as vital hunting tools before giving the brokers a chance to take a shot— or rather, a blow!?
Afterward, they relaxed on a serene sunset skiff cruise back to CRUCERO AMAZONAS, where Chef Luis welcomed them with a delectable local dish: tender paiche fillet drizzled with passion fruit sauce, accompanied by pesto yucca gnocchi—a perfect blend of regional flavors. It was the perfect way to cap off a day filled with immersive experiences in the heart of the Amazon. They made sure to head to bed early, as the next day promised an exciting early morning!?
Day 4: NAUTA CAN?O/NAUTA - IQUITOS?
The brokers woke up before sunrise to witness the dawn of the Amazon, setting out for a 5 AM birdwatching session through the Amazonian tributaries. They enjoyed the captivating sunrise reflecting off the Amazon River as monkeys swung from the trees.???
As lunch was prepared, they participated in an exciting Camu Camu bartending class where they learned about the benefits of this native superfruit, known for its stress-reducing properties and rich vitamin C and antioxidant content. The brokers took advantage of this downtime to enjoy life aboard CRUCERO AMAZONAS. Some relaxed in the jacuzzi, others soaked in the stunning views from the observation deck, and a couple even enjoyed a rejuvenating nap in the prestige suite before heading out for the evening excursion.
As the day faded to night, the brokers boarded the auxiliary boat for a journey to a safe and sacred space where the lines between the material world and the spiritual realm blur.?At shore, their hike was illuminated by fire torches, guiding them to a spiritual cleansing ceremony led by a shaman, who guided them through sacred chants and the use of aromatic herbs to create a serene atmosphere that connected them with the vibrant spirit of the Amazon. This ceremony was an introduction to the transcendent healing power of plant medicine and how ancient civilizations used it to gain insights previously unavailable to them.??

On the final day, the brokers gathered in the main salon as they reflected on their unforgettable journey, sharing memories and experiences from the trip of a lifetime. When it was time to depart, they were transported to the airport, with the crew available for any last-minute assistance to ensure a smooth farewell.?
