Behind the Scenes: From Inspiration to Publication

Behind the Scenes: From Inspiration to Publication

Hello everyone, I hope you're all doing well. I'm excited to share another article in this newsletter. Previously, I tried to share other articles, but there were some issues with notifications, so I had to remove them. Anyway, here's today's article. It's a little experiment I created using Genially. Instead of diving into theories, I want to walk you through the steps I take when crafting a learning journey. Hopefully, it can offer some tips for building your portfolio. Enjoy the read!

You might notice that my eLearning samples are a bit unique, quite different from what we usually create for corporate training. The reason is simple - I aim to make the learning process enjoyable for myself. With countless tools and topics to explore, I want to have fun while creating and sharing learning and game journeys.

Wondering how inspiration strikes?

Often, ideas pop into my head during everyday activities like working, exercising, or browsing presentation templates. I stumble upon a catchy template and think, "This needs to be turned into eLearning!"

For instance, just yesterday, while meditating and pondering about this newsletter, the idea of creating a course on "Metta Meditation" surfaced. It felt important, especially in times filled with news of conflicts and illnesses. I swiftly found the right template, created a course on Genially to expedite the process, and eventually penned this article.

In essence, when I work on my portfolio pieces, I follow my instincts and do what feels right.

Storyboarding

Now, let's talk about storyboarding. I've streamlined this process as it's crucial, especially for lengthy projects. I could talk about this all day, so maybe there'll be another article dedicated to storyboarding in the future, complete with examples.

Creation Process

As for the creation process, for this course, I aimed for speed, considering it was a Sunday, and I wanted some relaxation time. Genially proved to be the quickest platform for this task. Before that, I used Canva to choose the best presentation and then edited and imported it into Genially. While Genially may not be as advanced as Storyline, it's fast and useful. I'm still exploring it, so there might be features I'm yet to discover.

  • Scriptwriting is crucial for me, and I usually seek guidance from ChatGPT to improve my scripts and correct any grammar issues. This time was no different.
  • When it comes to finding music or sound effects, I rely on Pixabay, which offers free-to-use options. It's a resource I truly appreciate.
  • As for narration, I didn't use it this time. But when I do, I turn to tools like WellSaidLabs, Fliki, or Narakeet.

So, here's a simple example journey I wanted to share with you. It's quite basic, but please don't hold it against me - I put it together in just 30 minutes. Feel free to watch it or explore it yourself here.

And with that, we've reached the end of this article. I hope you find it valuable, particularly if you're looking to build your own portfolio. Share your thoughts with me, and may you find happiness and safety on your journey.
