Behind the scenes: Developing a career at Signify
Follow the journey of early career professionals who have grown their careers in our company.
As part of our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion journey, Signify aims to enhance our talent pool with more professionals at the start of their careers. We spoke to colleagues who started with the company in the past few years and have made leaps forward in their career at Signify.
Addy Oluyemi-Wnoroski, MBA has been at Signify for five years. She currently holds the role of Indoor Segment Manager with the Genlyte Solutions’ Offer Management organization. Addy and her team are responsible for achieving sales and margin targets for Genlyte Solutions’ professional indoor luminaire and controls brands including Alkco, Chloride, DayBrite, Ledalite, Lightolier, Interact, and Philips Dynalite. ?
Why did you choose Signify as an employer?
Between my?first and second year?studying for an M.B.A at Rutgers Business School, I interviewed for a sales operations internship at Signify. I applied for the role because the company values aligned with my own, and from the outside, it seemed like a great work environment. I was not disappointed! During my first three months interning on the sales operations team, I was given responsibilities to develop dashboards and lead data quality improvement projects. The Signify connection points Leaders in Training (LIT) and African Heritage Network (now BRITE) welcomed me with open arms and made feel safe to challenge myself and grow. Our team activities were always a wonderful time. I immediately felt a part of the Signify community. ?
How has your career grown since you joined the company?
It is exciting to think about how much has changed over the past five years. There is something to be said about being given the space to grow; Signify has certainly done that for me. Each year, I was presented with new opportunities like LEAN certification and traveling for trade shows, new challenges like developing a sales incentive program, and new leaders to learn from. All my managers during my time with Signify have been empowering. I have also learned so much from my mentor, whom I connected with through the official Signify mentorship program. Now I feel more confident in my abilities to contribute?to the achievement of our fiscal, environmental, and social goals. ?

Signify aims to grow its early career talents. What do you think people at the beginning of their careers can bring to a company like Signify??
Do not hesitate to share innovative ideas or to challenge current ways of working. Your vision is important to your manager and your team – that is why they brought you on. Early career talent is looking at the lighting industry and wider market with fresh eyes. It behooves us to listen and course correct where needed. Embracing that change can sometimes be a good thing. ?
