Behind the scenes of Bumble and Bloom

Working with a marketing consultant like myself can be an immensely rewarding, cost-effective experience for busy business owners, new entrepreneurs and growing teams. We add expertise, anecdotes and practical support when you need it most.

As the saying goes "people buy from people they know, like and trust." With that in mind, I wanted to share more about what goes on behind the scenes of Bumble & Bloom. Whether we work together on a one-off project, or something longer, I want you to have a sense of the person you are entrusting with your business, time and money.

So what goes on behind the scenes of Bumble and Bloom?

I work from my home office, and if I am not at my desk, chances are I will be somewhere on the North East coast with my three dogs Daisy, Betsy and Dolly.

I make no secret of the fact I hate the idea of having to be sat at a desk from 9-5, five days a week, which is why being my own boss works so well for me.

I love to be able to get up and take the dogs out for a walk, or click 'send' on an email and stop what I am doing to go get some fresh air with my three little buddies in tow.

I promise they aren't all mine!

I am animal mad as you can probably tell. Friends' pets (as pictured here), family pets and local wildlife would all come and live with me if I could squeeze them in!

More often than not, at least one of my menagerie will appear in the background of a Zoom call. I currently share my home with three dogs, two house rabbits and two guinea pigs.

I once re-homed a one-eared African Pygmy Hedgehog (who I affectionately called Pickled Onion), two 'boy' rabbits who later had 13 babies(!) and an escape artist tortoise we called Dora.

I have rubbish eyesight (my prescription is a -7.5 if you're wondering) - hence the giant specs to fit in my even bigger lens prescription! During the pandemic I also found out that I have a condition called otosclerosis, a fairly common cause of hearing loss in young adults. Unfortunately otosclerosis can't be cured, but I am told surgery can greatly improve hearing loss.

I have less than 5% hearing in my left ear, and around 70% in my right at the moment, so tend to use headphones on calls and Zoom meetings to help me hear clearly.

When I am not working, one of my favourite things to do is a bit of DIY and decorating. While certainly no interior designer, I am slowly but surely working my way through every room in my Victorian property making it more to my style and taste. I will try anything, and would love to go on a course to teach me the basics of plumbing and electrics.

My 'yarden' I designed for myself

One of the areas of my home that I most enjoyed revamping was my awkwardly Z-shaped backyard. By accident, I discovered a real love and interest for garden design in a way that boosts mental wellbeing and biodiversity.

This led me to pursue a Level 2 qualification in the Principles of Horticulture with the esteemed Royal Horticultural Society in October 2021. My final exams take place in February 2023 - fingers crossed I pass! From there, I'll be incorporating my new qualification into a side project - more to be revealed soon.

I live minutes from the beach and one of my favourite things to do is to go paddle boarding and sea swimming. I have my own board and love nothing more than heading out into the ocean for an hour or two.

I started learning how to sail before the pandemic hit and I'd love to pick that back up again when I can.

Edinburgh is my favourite city of all. A group of friends and I hop on the train every year for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and city breaks as and when we can. I love the buildings, green spaces, Botanic Garden and bustling streets.

My love of Edinburgh might also have something to do with the availability of Irn Bru there... Mmm my favourite!

Another love of mine is going to the ballet. My Nanna and I never miss a show at the Theatre Royal.

I chose to become vegan in 2021 and food remains a big part of my life. Dining out as a vegan is a different experience, but doesn't stop me looking for great places to enjoy.

Despite now being 31 years old, I never grew out of being travel sick as a child. In fact, any type of motion makes me feel horrendously sick. Train journeys, bus trips and ferries knock me for six, so I tend to drive myself most places to make sure I get there in one piece. I don't drink, so friends and family always have a taxi home!

Lowering my carbon footprint and helping the planet however I can in the face of climate change is incredibly important to me. I am a big advocate of a circular economy and limit unnecessary travel where I can.

I hope you enjoyed getting a glimpse of who I am and what I love behind the scenes of Bumble & Bloom. Be sure to check out www.bumbleandbloommedia.co.uk to find out more about my work, or leave a comment below if you have any of the same hobbies and passions as I do - I'd love to hear them.

Chloe Hall long time no see hun. ? sorry to hear about your hearing loss and eyesight problems. You could be writing my story (except it was childhood measles did for my eyesight and hearing). I had many operations to save my hearing. And they did, good enough until the technologies caught up. Technology is amazing now. I've had cataract ops on both eyes and now have BAHAs (bone anchored hearing aids). The best eyesight and hearing I've ever had in my entire life. I really hope you get as good a result. But I really believe it makes us better writers. We know what it feels like to struggle through adversity. That gives us empathy and that informs our copywriting. So glad to see you doing so well. ??????
