Mr Kumara Shamugam (Kumar) is the Chief Engineer of Copthorne King's Hotel Singapore. With an impressive 23 years of experience within the Millennium Hotels and Resorts, Kumar's journey has been nothing short of inspiring. He joined the CKS family five years ago in 2018 as the Chief Engineer leading a team of technicians and engineers to upkeep the hotel’s backend. His tenure has been marked by unwavering commitment, innovation, and a deep understanding of the ever-evolving landscape of the hospitality industry.?

A Day in the Life of an Engineering Leader?

When it comes to the responsibilities of the Engineering team, Kumar highlights the day-to-day pivotal role that includes monitoring the daily utility consumption, the hotel’s energy maintenance as well as the energy consumption. These monitoring is meticulously tracked to ensure alignment with specific benchmarks. In times of unexpected spikes in utility or energy consumption that happens particularly overnight, the team’s rapid response would be required to ensure operational efficiency. In addition, Kumar underscores the importance of coordination with contractors for maintenance work or projects within the hotel premises.?
