The UX Challenge is a free online tool developed by Nodus Company to help businesses of any size improve their users' experience on their? website or app.
In this interview, Jimena Mu?agorri - UX Specialist, and Florencia Martino Adami - Account Strategist from Nodus tell us about the origins of the #UXChallenge and its main benefits.
Jimena is part of the Design team and her strong passion for user experience (UX) led her to lead a talented team dedicated to creating digital experiences that help users interact with technology.
Florencia is also part of the Strategy & Management team. Since her early days at Nodus, she has had a clear goal: to continue growing in the digital world with a holistic perspective. Currently, she leads post-click performance projects and collaborates with talented multidisciplinary teams, always aiming to provide high-quality services to clients.
What is the UX Challenge?
Jimena Mu?agorri:
"The UX Challenge is a free test which helps identify if a website or application has any of the most common usability issues. It does not require sensitive information and can be easily completed in under 30 minutes".
How did this initiative come about?
Jimena Mu?agorri:
"This tool emerged as a response to one of our main objectives: humanizing digital experiences. Since the beginning of Nodus, we have been committed to improving the quality of online experiences for people and businesses.
Over the years, we carried out several usability analyses that allowed us to discover common patterns and issues in both websites and applications. In this context, within the team, we thought that it would be very useful to have a tool that would enable a quick analysis of the UX on both platforms. And if it was free, even better, as the idea was for anyone with an online store or app to be able to use it.
To develop this test, we observed over 200 users for more than 100 hours while they interacted with digital products. We drew upon industry best practices, prominent references, psychological principles related to human behavior and more than seven years of analysis across various sectors and countries in Latin America. All this work led us to the launch of the UX Challenge".?

What are the main usability problems you found?
Florencia Martino:
"The most common UX problems in apps are often related to lengthy and unattractive descriptions on Google Play, screenshots that do not accurately reflect the content, lack of information about password requirements or not offering real-time validation in forms, which means users find out late if they make a mistake. It is also very common that the error messages are overly generic and do not explain what actually went wrong.
These issues can result in an initial negative impression, difficulties in user retention and conversions, and overall user frustration. To avoid these problems, it is essential to focus on clarity, personalization and effective communication that facilitates the use of the app".
What does the new update of UX Challenge bring?
Florencia Martino:
"In 2022, we launched the first version of the UX Challenge, primarily focused on e-commerce websites. Now, we are introducing a second version, which includes a test for apps. Additionally,? we have incorporated recurring usability problems found in more industries: ecommerce, travel and telecommunications".
Why would you recommend taking the UX Challenge?
Florencia Martino:
"The main benefit of taking this test is that people who complete it will receive recommendations to address the main UX problems.
This will help them in enhancing the user experience on digital channels, optimizing operations and standing out from the competition. And the best part is, it's free!"
