Behind The Code: A Backend Developer’s First 100 Days at Assemblio
We had the pleasure of sitting down with Mohsen Hegazy, a new backend developer at Assemblio, to discuss his experiences and insights from his first 100 days with us. With a keen interest in innovative technology and a passion for backend development, Mohsen has quickly become an integral part of our team. Let's dive into his journey so far and what motivates him in his role at Assemblio.
Q1: How were your 100 first days at Assemblio??
My first 100 days were fantastic. I gained a deep understanding of assembly documentation in a very healthy environment and friendly team. Besides testing and debugging, I’ve been working on functionalities like the word exporter, branding functionality, and analytics service.?I'm excited to see what the future holds for both the company and me. With the support of this great team, I'm confident I can continue to learn and grow in my role.?
?
Q2: What initially attracted you to Assemblio and what motivated you to pursue a career as a backend developer here???
I was immediately impressed by the job ad itself because it totally matched my interests and field of expertise. Other aspects that caught my attention were the company's innovative approach and commitment to excellence. During the interview process, I was further drawn to Assemblio by the friendly and highly skilled team. I saw immense potential for personal and professional growth in such an environment, knowing that I could learn from my colleagues while also contributing to the team's success.?
?
Q3: As you settle into your role, what aspects of our company's backend infrastructure or technology stack have impressed you the most, and what areas do you see opportunities for enhancement or optimization???
As I settled into my role at Assemblio, I've been particularly impressed by our company's backend infrastructure and technology stack. The use of shareable libraries and adherence to the single responsibility principle are exemplary. These practices not only promote code reusability and maintainability but also contribute to overall system scalability and performance. While our backend infrastructure is strong, I see opportunities for enhancement and optimization, particularly in the realm of further modularization and fine-tuning performance metrics to meet evolving demands.?
?
?Q4: Can you discuss a recent project or challenge you've tackled in your previous experience as a backend developer, and how your approach or solutions contributed to its success???
In a recent project in my previous experience as a backend developer, I was tasked with building a service capable of handling billions of requests per day. To achieve this, I implemented robust indexing strategies and decoupled the writing functionality into a separate service. This architectural decision allowed us to optimize read traffic by directing it to a simplified service with access to multiple read database nodes. As a result, we achieved both scalability and reliability, contributing to the project's overall success.?
?
Q5: Collaboration is key in any development team. How do you typically approach collaborating with frontend developers, designers, or other team members to ensure smooth integration and delivery of features or projects???
Collaboration is paramount in any development team, and I approach it with a mindset of camaraderie and mutual respect. At Assemblio, we're all part of one team, working together towards a shared vision of building exceptional products to revolutionize assembly documentation. I believe in fostering strong relationships with frontend developers and other departments, tackling each interaction with openness. By approaching collaboration in this way, we can leverage each other's strengths, brainstorm ideas together, and ultimately deliver features and other projects smoothly and efficiently. It's all about working together as a cohesive team to achieve the best possible outcome and continuously learn from each other's experiences.?
