Did you know while in Fuerteventura four years ago and working away with my candidates and clients while poolside my husbands words to me where, “Why don’t you work for yourself, you are on holiday and still working you may as well be your own boss”

I had always thought about working for myself a few years prior while on holiday but never really took it seriously. In all my years of working for employers I have always been a consultant who has never switched off from work. I love to hear how my clients are with the candidates they have interviewed along with finding out how my candidates got on with their interview and if the role is how described and most of all what they would love to do.

I still get a buzz and excitement every time we have a candidate at interview and even better when they are offered that ideal role!

Four years ago today I left PRG Recruitment, the company had gone into administration and I was given the opportunity to TUPE over to the new firm but at this time I decided it was now or never.

Having meet with the team at Hilton Lord & Associates I knew it was time and now more than ever. The support and set up the team have in Bolton is the best on the market and they would take the added stress away from me that I do not want to be involved in and this gives me my daily focus of marketing my candidates into the correct organisations to find them employment along with supporting my clients in finding the right individuals to join them.

My old employers and all my colleagues at PRG Recruitment were so supportive along with them telling me to keep my candidates and clients. Most of you know in the industry if you leave to go to a competitor your ex employer can be all over you wanting to sue you trust me I had this before along with stalking across all my social media pages.

The team were great and my manager had said to me, “Val these candidates and clients came with you when you joined its your brand they work with not ours” and this was a manager who encouraged me with others that I could work for myself and be good at it.

So after heading to America for our dream holiday(we booked it months before I knew that my employer was closing) I headed back and they say the rest is history.
