Behaved Myself Into Obliging

I couldn't have appreciated the change in weather any more than I did when finding the temps had dropped down to sixty degrees as I was heading to office this morning. Shortly after I arrived, I opened up the back door and then the front, just so the easterly wind would cool down my office, and about a half hour later, it was five degrees cooler than it was when I arrived. It was definitely a needed event because my office was beginning to feel stuffy, and that cold fresh air definitely did the trick.

The final documents I was waiting for on the closing I have coming up on Friday, finally did arrive, so about all I have to do is issue a check out of my trust account, go pick up my lockbox and sign, and head to the closing. In more ways than one, I'll be glad when that property gets closed because of all the little extras I was called upon to do, which of course I behaved myself into obliging.

A surprise phone call came in from the music director over at First Baptist Church asking if I'd be willing to play for them this coming Sunday, and only because he's going to be out of town, and once again, I behaved myself into accommodating his needs. About a half hour later he showed up with five hymns they have scheduled to play, and not to my surprise, there was only one of them I'd even heard of. He did linger long enough for me to run thru them, just to make sure they were being played up to tempo. After he left, the first thing I thought of, was my having inadvertently touched one of their electronic piano's settings the last time was there, so I'll have to be all the more mindful about keeping my long fingers pulled back a little bit.

The gentleman I showed a house to yesterday, called and said he was over at the house getting an estimate from a contractor who's very good at getting rid of stumps and smaller trees. As I suspected, he mentioned several of the neighbors having confronted him about the house, so I'm sure the news will be traveling fast regarding the possible sale of the home. One thing I'll never get used to, are the overly curious neighbors who seem to make your life, their business.

I had to laugh when a customer of mine mentioned some years ago where it ended up getting back to him that his neighbor down the street found it almost a sacrilege that my customer wouldn't even look his way as he was driving home from work on a daily basis, which is why I steer clear of such characters because they're nothing less than gossip mongers. Without a doubt, men can be just as gossipy as women, and sometimes even more so. I was passed on the nickname 'spoon' by an associate some years ago which must have an urban dictionary meaning 'gossiper'. Oh, I just now looked it up, and it's slang for a simpleton, so I guess in a way, people who like to pass around not so truthful stories, could be considered simpletons.

After about two uninterrupted hours, I managed to get my first of the months bills paid, along with having balanced out the majority of the books, so I guess I'm a little ahead of the game, and if those last statements I'm waiting for arrive soon, I'll have everything wrapped up for the month of July, and since I have two morning appointments tomorrow, I won't have to be worrying about getting it done.

An elderly gentleman I've know for some years, stopped by for a short visit, and pretty much all we talked about, was the current condition of our world. I was pleasantly surprised to hear he's just as intense about the war Putin started in Ukraine as I am. We also discussed the evils of AI, along with the acceleration of global warming and climate change. For being in his upper 80's, he and his wife are very much up to speed with what's going on in the world, and likely because they're prolific readers. I had to admit having fallen away from the amount of reading I did in past years, but there will come a time when I'll be able to get back to it.

Tonight's One-liner is: It is important to expect nothing, to take every experience, including the negative ones, as merely steps on the path, and to proceed.
