A Beginning Guide to the BAAs

A Beginning Guide to the BAAs

Football season, hunting season, summer season, all three of these are seasons in which some people get excited for, whether it be the sports fanatic, hunting enthusiast, or tired teenager, there is always a season to look forward to. We are in the heart of September, officially marking about a month into FBLA season! Which means another year of fun, events, and programs. It also means another year of proving your mettle and your dedication to FBLA through the Business Achievement Awards! This post should serve as a guide to navigating the season and getting as far as possible within the program.

What are they?

For those who do not know, the Business Achievement Awards( BAAs) are an online program that strongly encourages students to participate in and complete a wide variety of outside tasks that pertain to FBLA. There are four levels to the Business Achievement Awards starting at the Future Level, then rising through the ranks of the Business Level, the Leader Level, and finally the America Level. Each of these levels get progressively more difficult and take an increasing amount of time to achieve, but in the end it is all worth it!

How can I get started?

The way to get started is to have your teacher visit the national website at www.fbla-pbl.org and navigate to the webpage for the BAAs, after signing you up your teacher will give you a log-in code that you will use to unlock your account and begin your quest to the America award!

What do the tasks look like?

The tasks for the BAAs are all related to either the promotion of FBLA or the promotion of business education. In the future level these tasks may include things such as donating 5 hours of community service or creating a poster advertising FBLA. As the rank increases, so does the difficulty. Once the America level is reached the tasks start ramping up in difficulty with things such as creating an online e-portfolio and writing a report on the business affairs of another country. Even though some of these tasks may seem challenging, it is all worth it in the end as you will find yourself to have massively improved as a business leader and have gained tons of valuable knowledge and insight on the business world.

What are the benefits?

In addition to the countless amount of education gained from participating in the BAAs, there is also a lot of recognition involved. Each level has a designated pin and the completer receives those pins as they complete each level. Members scan earn up to 4 total pins for each of the levels. Some states also recognize their Leader and America level award winners at the state conference in front of the crowd, allowing the opportunity for the amazing accomplishment to be seen by all in your state. America level winners get their pin presented to them at the National Leadership conference in front of thousands, and they get their name up on the huge screen as a shining symbol of their accomplishment. Overall the BAA program is one of the finest that FBLA has to offer, and if you get involved and push yourself to complete it, you will find yourself rewarded with recognition, honors and most importantly, an increased knowledge of exactly what it takes to be a future business leader.

Thank you from the FBLA Arizona State Officers!
