It is the beginning, not the end...

Thank you to everyone for the farewell events over this semester. Today, I am transitioning from a regular employment at UC Berkeley to Director Emeritus at the Berkeley's Sutardja Center as well as Dean and Professor, School of Science and Technology, IE?in Madrid. This is a note of appreciation. Certainly, none of my anticipated new experiences would be possible without the years of learning that I had at Berkeley.

This post is also a marker and archive of the transition today - June 24, 2022. As I've mentioned to many, it is the beginning and not the end. I look forward to continued teaching in ELPP as well as connecting my new networks going forward.

First, I have to say, I love the artwork. Thank you to all the talented students and staff who created it.

Also, it was great to see everyone at the farewell events (on campus, at the board meeting, and at the Computer History Museum). Thank you to speakers Melissa Nidever, In Sik Rhee, Charlie Giancarlo, Gigi Wang, Tsu-Jae Liu, Ken Singer, Tarek Zohdi, Rich Lyons, Fiona Doyle, Vicky Howell, Jocelyn Weber, ELPP alumni, SCET board members, and Berkeley students. Thanks again to Victoria Howell for extra effort to organize so much of the farewell and similarly to Keith McAleer.

Thank you to also the board for supporting the dedication of a named bench on the Berkeley campus.

With a small modification, I might say it's "just" the beginning and not the end. See you all again and hopefully very soon!
