?There is a common misconception that in order to sell your home, everything needs to be remodeled and in tip-top shape before putting it on the market. That renovations of every size need must be done before you should even consider listing your home for sale. Although, I agree it is best practice to have a clean, presentable home and a well staged home - some “obvious” fixes may not be worth the cost of repair. Before you start making so-called “investments” in your nest, you should review which renovations will actually provide some kind of return on investment.
Remodeling’s 2016 Cost vs. Value report covers the return on investment on midrange to upscale home renovations and additions. The report of nearly 30 projects includes common upgrades that homeowners across the country and Pittsburgh take on when upgrading or preparing to sell.
If you think that renovating is a great way to “make money” when selling your home. Think again! For the greater Pittsburgh region only one (1) project is worthwhile. So unless you plan on updating your home’s exterior with a Manufactured Stone Veneer, you will want to contact me, and read this list before taking on an investment that will drain your bank account.
