I sat across from a client who was on the verge of a major career shift.

“I think I just need to quit,” she said, frustration written all over her face.

But something about that word didn’t sit right.

Quit. It landed heavy—weighted with failure, surrender, and the feeling of walking away defeated.

Was that what she was really doing?

Not even close.

She wasn’t quitting—she was choosing. Choosing to realign. Choosing a better path. Choosing to step into something more aligned with her goals.

And that’s the difference.

The words we use don’t just describe our reality—they shape it.

And if she kept calling it quitting, she’d feel like she was giving up—when in reality, she was leveling up.

That small shift in language? It changes everything.
