Before You Quit

Before You Quit

Last week, I found myself across the table With Arjun, a man who carried the weight of two decades of loyalty and doubt on his shoulders.

His eyes were tired, his smile hesitant, as he slid his laptop towards me and said quietly, “I need your help.

On the screen was his email drafts folder. He opened one and turned it towards me. It was a Resignation Letter.

?

“I wrote this six months ago,” he said. “Every morning, I open it But- I can’t bring myself to send it.”

?

Arjun had been with his company for over two decades. He had built teams, nurtured talent, and seen the organization grow. But somewhere along the way, he stopped feeling like he belonged.

?

“I don’t even know if I’m still good at what I do,” he admitted. “The world has changed so much, and I’m stuck in the past.”

His voice broke as he continued, “But I’m afraid. I’m not young anymore. What if I leave and no one wants me? What if I’ve already peaked?”

?

For a moment, I didn’t know what to say. Then I asked, “Arjun, what did you love about your work when you started?”

His face softened. Slowly, he began sharing stories—of the first project he led, the colleagues he mentored, the late nights that didn’t feel like work because they were filled with passion.

?

By the end of the conversation, we weren’t talking about Resignation anymore. We were talking about Reinvention.

The truth is, Arjun didn’t need to quit. He needed to rediscover his spark, to remind himself of the value he still brought to the table.

?To everyone carrying their own version of that letter:

???????????? You’re not defined by where you are; you’re defined by what you can still become.

???????????? Fear is natural, but regret is heavier.

???????????? Sometimes, the hardest step isn’t starting over—it’s believing you’re worth it.

?

You don’t have to send that letter. But maybe it’s time to rewrite it.

What would your letter?say?today?

The story brings out the essence of reflection and exploration so well, Summit Madaan. Many a times, all it requires is a conversation to trigger those thoughts.
