Before I Graduate...#8

May 14, 2023. 77 days.

Before today, I had never visited a winery. In my mind, wineries were exclusive to fancy vineyards nestled deep in the mountains. Given my busy schedule, a trip to such places seemed unattainable.

But then I stumbled upon a revelation - a quaint little winery, ZincHouse Winery and Brewery, was located right here in Durham. It was a complete surprise to me that such a vast winery and vineyard could be found so close to my home.

We decided to visit for my friend's birthday (today). I had been excited since I heard about it. Finally, the day of my friend's birthday arrived, and we were excited to explore what this new place had to offer.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff who were more than willing to assist us in any way possible. In fact, we had the privilege of meeting the owner, which was an incredible experience. She asked how we learned about her establishment, and with a bit of embarrassment, we revealed that it was through TikTok.

The winery grounds were a delight to explore. The three-story building with its multi-level balconies was an architectural masterpiece, and the full outside area, complete with an Italy-inspired fountain, was an absolute joy. It was fascinating to witness the brewery and winery set up. It even had a view of sprawling grapevines.

And then it was time for the best part - wine tasting. We got to try all types of wine and loved every sip. We felt as if we could become sommeliers with enough practice.

As a student in the Triangle area, I have enjoyed discovering new places to visit this semester. And with plans to stay in Chapel Hill after graduation, finding fun spots has become a necessary task.

ZincHouse Winery and Brewery have undoubtedly made it to my list of favorite places to visit. I cannot wait to go back and I encourage you to visit too!
