Before and after

Hello there,

It’s starting to look a tiny bit less like winter and slightly more like spring in my garden.

The snowdrops have turned up, a few crocuses and even some daffodils. I take a bit of time every day to go and check on any changes to the garden and it’s really nice to see it develop.

It does also mean that I notice all the things that need doing out there…

The things that need repairing, tidying and cleaning.

I can see the projects I have for the spring and summer.

Sometimes I find that these jobs seem never-ending and I’m not always sure what I’ve achieved.

Last year in February I took a few ‘before’ photos and then in August I looked back at them, and it was amazing to see the difference.

All the work that we’d done was much easier to see when contrasted with where we started! It felt even more rewarding. I made sure I took the ‘after’ photos too.

I was thinking about this while looking out at the garden this morning and realised that it’s true of many things in life. It’s very rewarding to see the progress you’ve made and where it all started.

It’s often an easy one to see with cleaning projects - the before and after that is.

It’s so gratifying to see a before photo of a space that really needs a good clean and then to see it afterwards shiny and almost like new.
