Beelzebub, also spelled Beelzebul or Belzebuth (Arabic "Iblis"), is a name derived from a Philistine God, formerly worshipped in Ekron, and later adopted by some Abrahamic religions as a major Demon.

He is mentioned?11 times in?Quran in 11 verses, and is described variously as an Angel, a "jinn" also Romanized as 'djinn' or Anglicized as 'genie' in Arabian?folklore (spiritual creature capable of good or evil).
The name Beelzebub is associated with the Canaanite God "Baal" (Hebrew "ba?al") found in (2 Kings?- Melachim II?1:2–3, 6, 16) a Semitic common noun meaning “owner” or “lord” the Phoenician God of fertility and rain.
Beelzebub, 'Prince of Devils' from Latin, is, literally the 'Lord of Flies' mentioned in (2 Kings 1–18) as the 'God of Ekron' in the Hellenistic period known as 'Accaron' one of the five cities of a Philistine stronghold in David's time (1 Samuel 17:52). The city was later destroyed by the Neo-Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar II (c. 604 BC).

In Catholic Demonology, he is sometimes considered to be one of the first three Angels to fall from Heaven, along with Lucifer and Leviathan.
Beelzebub is also often confused with Satan and the two names can be interchanged. However, strictly speaking, they are two separate entities and in some tales, Beelzebub led a revolt against Satan and became the founder of the “Order of the Fly”.
Beelzebub is the Chief-Lieutenant of Lucifer and is one of the most loyal to the 'Morning Star' (Isaiah 14:12, Luke 10). He is commonly described as ranking high in the hierarchy of Hell. He was of the ”Order of Cherubim”.
