BEDSIT - WINNER
Swords Castle was buzzing with laughter, tears and standing ovations last week when playwright/actor David Gilna unveiled a riveting solo performance of his play “My Bedsit Window” during a week-long run in its beautiful-restored Chapel.
David’s central character - Swords’-born playwright/actor William Blake - takes us on a funny and fascinating journey, from winning local talent competitions to nationwide theatre tours, RTE , The Dole Office and then onto London. Where the hopes and dreams of this young Irish playwright/actor get tossed around by perverted money-hungry Hollywood Producers. The love of a beautiful woman and the unforgettable tragic loss of a friend.
Wrapped up in an myriad of mesmerising characters who - through Gilna’s energetic vocal agility - burst open the emotional highs and lows of this true story “My Bedsit Window” is a play for today - highly charged - highly recommended ! “
