Becoming Unstoppable

Do you ever feel overwhelmed by the day’s challenges? You know the feeling. Too many obstacles. Too many setbacks. Too many problems and too much disappointments. Well, don’t worry. You’re not alone. It happens to everyone. It’s part of life’s rich tapestry of experience. But how do you cope with all the daily pressures and overcome the temptation to quit? In other words, how do you become unstoppable in the face of the inevitable hardships?

There are several ways to develop a fierce determination that will keep you firmly focused on your goals.

If you think something is impossible, it is. Right up until the moment you decide it is possible - and you do it.

The first method is to make sure you’ve displayed a prominent reminder of what you’re aiming to accomplish. This visual representation of your intended success is often referred to as a Vision Board and it can prove very effective in reminding you why you’re pursuing your particular pathway. The stronger and clearer the images, the more you’ll rekindle your initial enthusiasm. This a great way to move your attention away from any feelings of frustration and disappointment and concentrate your energy on overcoming the obstacles and moving ahead with your plans. Make sure you feel excited whenever you look at your Vision Board. Imagine yourself celebrating your success and enjoying the fruits of your accomplishments. This creates a valuable shift in perspective that can realign your energy precisely with your goals. You turn down your disappointment and you turn up your creativity. And that’s a very powerful response to any challenge.

You need to associate with people that inspire you, people that challenge you to rise higher, people that make you better. Don't waste your valuable time with people who are not adding to your growth. Your destiny is too important.

The next way to enhance your resistance is to make sure you’re surrounded by positive, nurturing and supportive people. It’s easy to forget that we tend to reflect the attitudes and expectations of the people we associate with on a regular basis. This subtle form of social conditioning helps us to integrate ourselves more successfully within any social group. But the downside is that we often sink to the level of the lowest common denominator. If you’re spending time with people who don’t share your dreams and ambitions - the kind of people who tell you it’s OK to quit - you need to make some changes to your social network. And fast. Life is tough enough already when you embark on any ambitious project. Having negative people around you can provide plenty of fertile ground for sowing the seeds of doubt. When you’re tired or at a low ebb, that’s when their negativity can undermine your determination and sabotage your beliefs. Positive people will encourage you, point you in the right direction, help you and refuse to accept your excuses. Make sure you’re surrounded by positive people.

We were meant to live courageous and bold lives rather than lives of mediocrity. However, we have to live our lives actively and on purpose each day in order to become unstoppable.

Sometimes, it can be something as simple as pride. You refuse to fall short of the standards you’ve set for yourself. You’ve told everyone – both publicly and privately – that you’re going to make good on your potential and that failure is not an option. Even this behavioural trait can be harnessed in the service of a worthwhile goal. You refuse to give up. You just can’t face the prospect of admitting to friends and family that you couldn’t live up to your own expectations. You can’t fall short of your goals and quit. The challenges might be hard. They might even be painful on an emotional level. But nothing burns as deeply or as painfully as failure. So, you become ferociously determined to keep going. This too can lend itself to an indomitable attitude of being unstoppable.

Believe in yourself and you will be unstoppable.

Whilst considering the virtues of developing a very positive attitude towards the delivery of your dreams and ambitions, many people have benefited enormously from the simple daily repetition of a set of personal positive affirmations. You might be surprised at how well they can work.

Whilst the voice inside our heads might be whispering dark thoughts about quitting, the wonderful counter-measure of repeated positive statements can neutralise the doubts and reinforce our drive for achievement. There are countless examples available for free online. Or you can design your own. Just make sure they’re as positive and inspiring as possible. You can make them as wildly positive as you like. The real benefits arise as you repeat them every day until they begin to take root in your belief system. They’re a perfect antidote to the negative effects of fatigue and a challenging schedule.

You will also benefit from making sure you get a good night’s sleep. It might seem obvious but most people really don’t sleep as well as they should. Waking up feeling tired and exhausted places you at a disadvantage right from the start of the day. Good rest will work wonders for your cognitive function, lower your stress and assist your creativity and powers of concentration. When you’re properly rested, you’re more likely to respond to challenges with logic rather than with fear, frustration and anxiety. So, make sure you get plenty of rest. That can translate into a short, refreshing afternoon nap that's been proven to boost cognitive function and restore clarity to the mind.

Becoming unstoppable is very much a reflection of your mental attitude. Very few people quit because they’re too tired. The decision to abandon the quest is almost always determined by a mental or an emotional declaration that you’re just not willing to keep going. Whereas movement forward is accomplished with a single step. And then another.

In the face of opposition, problems and setbacks, make a declaration to yourself to take one more step. And then another. In this way, even the longest journeys are accomplished. In this way, people become unstoppable. In this way, people achieve greatness.
