Becoming a Strong Leader

Becoming a Strong Leader

To grow as a human, you must recognize erroneous programming that is guiding your life and then make a deliberate concerted daily effort to change it.

"Unless the programming we received is erased or replaced with different programming, it will stay with us permanently and affect and direct everything we do for the rest of our lives. You will become what you think about most; your success anything, large or small, will depend on your programming—what you accept from others, and what you say when you talk to yourself"

--From What To Say When You Talk to Your Self by Shad Helmstetter, Ph.D.

How can you do this in a way that will not disrupt your life while making progress towards the next version of you? Here are some simple steps:

1. Make it a daily practice, like brushing your teeth, to embrace who you want to become and what empowering activities you can do during the day.
2. Correct yourself whenever the "small" self tries to dominate your thoughts and abilities to make the next decision. Think from the "bigger" mind.
3. Every day, read or listen to thought-leaders that you admire and notice what they are doing and saying. How do they express themselves verbally and non-verbally that commands your attention and/or creates inspiration and emotion?
4. Envision yourself through images in your mind taking on the larger role for which you aspire. Meditate on these images and ask for clarity as to what is your next step towards moving in that direction.

Look for signs and opportunities to move forward, no matter where they are coming from—at home, work, and play. These are the cues for you to step into something much bigger and better.

Great article! So important to shift the programming that's not creating the life you truly desire. Well written.
