I read through “The Becoming” a memoir of former United States first lady Michelle Obama, the book talks about her successful journey right from her roots ,how she found her voice , her role as a mother. A woman who was successful in all of the these, yet how gracefully she embraced the veracity of no longer being known as the First Lady of the Unites States.
We all have been pondering upon and trying to sync in the feeling of the “New Normal” in us and get acclimatized to the new conditions in front of us.
Here are some highlights which we can help “Become” the New You” specifically in the current uncertain situation.
1. Humble and Modest : It is as difficult to have this attribute in oneself as simple it sounds specially when a professional climbs up the career ladder. Its very natural to forget the basics and get trapped by the in the power of position in an organization . These times of uncertainty its very important to be humble with fellow colleagues , managers and also leaders of the organization. We talk about Empathy in these uncertain times , being modest is the first step towards it.
2. Embrace the Diversity and Uncertainty : Each professional we meet is unique and different in their own way ,may be with respect to the skills , competencies and the thought process that they possess. Its important to take up every person as they come up, Do not beyond them and just take in their story. Today thousands of professionals are affected adversely by the pandemic ,Lets be compassionate towards them ,embrace their side of the story and not form meagre opinions and facilitate them getting back on their professional journey .
3. The Power of Gathering: “Networking” as we call it in the industry parlance is super important , As Michelle Obama says engaging socially is like a sociological dance with people. You always get to know new perspectives , new stories and most importantly it gives you a learning.
4. Create the next Track: Its always about creating the next track in life, no matter how hard life gets , how uncertain life gets its always essential to keep creating the next rack. It wasn’t surely easy for Mrs. Obama to leave the throne of the “first lady of united states” and decide on her next track.
5. Relive your childhood: Simple pleasures of life ,its good to relive your childhood once is a while , to feel the purity and innocence in the world around.
Like they say “ if you have it in you the Nature conspires to be with you and diverts all energies to help you achieve Success!!
