Becoming a #monktroll

Becoming a #monktroll

In this edition of Musings from the Monk, I am just going to ramble on in an incoherent and scattered way. Business as usual, in other words.

There may be a few hidden gems here-and-there. They were not intentional.

When writing, I tend to have an ideal reader in mind. Here's my ideal reader today: she is in her late twenties, blonde, blue eyes, well-shaped body, and a sharp intellect combined with an inquisitive mind.

I can just imagine (some of you) wrinkling your nose. "What's gotten into that old monk now? He's ancient - twice her age, at least. Old goat!".

Yup. Looking at me, that should be obvious. But there's a story behind my ideal reader.

She has a name. Martine. I met her in a high-end clothes shop back in 2018. My divorce had finalised, and I wanted to buy some HUGO BOSS clothes to celebrate our conscious uncoupling.

She came over, and we spoke for 45 minutes.

Here she is, in a song only published on Audius

Anyhow, I gave her my business card, and said that if she wanted to have a coffee, she could call. Then I waited. And waited. And waited.

We met in front of the Royal Castle in Oslo. She was more beautiful than I remembered. And even more fascinating to talk with.

It lasted for a couple of months. Then she left for Australia.

She was the last woman I've loved. And what did it teach me?

A few things.

  1. Earthly love is fleeting.
  2. People in general can't be trusted.
  3. There is a higher power that is pure love.

So, I became a monk. In three weeks, I will have my fifth year anniversary.

How do you suggest I celebrate? Comments, please.
