On becoming a Man.

God has a way of speaking to us in various ways and this one is a message the Holy Spirit impressed on me.

The world would be a better place if boys growing up will realize that God created men first, for a reason, to be an example to the world. Men are not entitled to anything more than women are entitled. If we are looking for the example in good men, they can be easily recognized.

Responsible men are able to be independent, in a way that their life can be a great example to the youth. As men, we should be able to groom ourselves in ways that suit the situation or location. It shows our love for ourselves. Being drunk is not proof that a man is a man, but rather a sign of weakness. Men should be bible readers, understanding their purpose in life. Many men live for titles, Dr. and Sir. Those are just labels that helps boost them in public, and to impress women and society. The same women that they bash, beat and kill. What sense does it make.

I taught myself and my son and my male friends to learn how to cook a meal, do their or family laundry, take care of the babies. Clean and keep their surroundings as much as possible. And that is even with a wife or girlfriend in the house.

Representing your family as a man is important, but it does not take a gun to resolve the problem. Swearing at every instance is a sign of weakness, especially among men and men have to learn to walk away peacefully. I have walked away and at 67 years, I have never been in a fight nor have I sworn over 8 times. I do not have that negative energy.

One thing I learnt is that a quiet man attracts the right, respectable woman, while boisterous men have to continue to be ignored and loud. Even violent and insulting when the women ignore them. Ignorance is a serious problem.

It does not matter if a man is a CEO of a company, a mason, carpenter or garbage collector, each man has an important role in the development of their surroundings, regardless to their location.

I remember being bashed by a older man when my son was born and I was washing bathing clothing and hanging them on the line. I would do it again and again, because the job is not that of a woman only. Uneducated men are the ones who sit in a couch and tell the woman to fetched them a drink, or fight their wives when there is no food on the table when they get home.

I have taught myself that if the woman is out working or hustling, there must be a hot meal for her and the children when they get home. That is what makes a relationship work.

Men, that is the example we have to teach our boys and let our girls know that that is the caliber of man she should select. Not some baggy pants tooting boy or man that sits on the corner and gets drunk or smokes a joint daily.

Let us be frank. Men, we must aspire to be men that protect, procreate and provide. The procreation must be done responsibly, not having children with every woman on the block and then you cannot support the children or father them, be a role model to your children and communicate with them daily even when they become grown-ups.

Yes, with some of today's women, there can be challenges, but as I mentioned before, walk away. We know that some women are programed to be vicious either due to previous bad experiences or just to be trouble makers.

As a man, I say to my brothers, let's follow the code of duties which includes:

• Provide for your family and children financially.
• Protect our children and family.
• Be a good role model for our children.
• Be a good partner or husband.
• Be involved in community activities.
• Show love to every one
• Respect others
• Stay away from violent , indiscipline people.
• Most important, FEAR GOD.
