Part 2: "The How To" - Becoming The Best Version of an Organization, whether Corporate or Government.
Becoming the best version of an organization involves a comprehensive and holistic approach that encompasses various aspects of its operations, culture, and strategy. Last Thursday, I gave you Part 1 - "The Hint and a Clue," so that you may consider your role in helping your organization in becoming the best version of itself. Here is the elaboration of the key steps I mentioned last Thursday that an organization can take to strive for excellence and realize its full potential:
1. Define and Align Purpose (IKIGAI - taken from Emille Bryant's book): Clarify the organization's purpose, mission, and values. Ensure that they are well-communicated and understood throughout the organization. Align the purpose with the organization's strategy, goals, and decision-making processes.
2. Foster a Strong Organizational Culture: Cultivate a positive and inclusive organizational culture that supports and reinforces the organization's values. Encourage collaboration, open communication, innovation, and a sense of belonging. Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
3. Develop Effective Leadership: Invest in developing strong leadership at all levels of the organization. Select and develop leaders who embody the organization's values, lead by example, and inspire others. Provide leadership development programs, coaching, and mentoring to enhance leadership effectiveness.
4. Empower Employees: Empower employees by providing them with autonomy, responsibility, and opportunities for growth. Foster a culture that encourages and rewards innovation, risk-taking, and learning from failures. Support employees in developing their skills and capabilities.
5. Prioritize Customer and Stakeholder Satisfaction: Focus on delivering exceptional value to customers and stakeholders. Understand their needs, expectations, and preferences. Continuously seek feedback and make improvements based on the feedback received. Strive for excellence in customer service and satisfaction.
6. Embrace Technology and Innovation: Embrace technology and leverage it to improve operational efficiency, enhance customer experience, and drive innovation. Encourage employees to contribute ideas, experiment with new approaches, and embrace a culture of innovation.
7. Foster Collaboration and Teamwork: Break down silos and foster collaboration across departments and teams. Promote cross-functional collaboration, knowledge sharing, and teamwork. Encourage diverse perspectives and create opportunities for collaboration and synergy.
8. Invest in Learning and Development: Prioritize learning and development initiatives to enhance the skills and capabilities of employees. Offer training programs, coaching, mentoring, and opportunities for personal and professional growth. Create a learning culture that supports continuous improvement.
9. Monitor and Measure Performance: Establish clear performance metrics and indicators to track the organization's progress. Regularly monitor performance against these metrics and use the insights to identify areas for improvement and make data-driven decisions.

10. Embrace Continuous Improvement: Foster a mindset of continuous improvement throughout the organization. Encourage employees to identify and address inefficiencies, streamline processes, and seek innovative solutions. Embrace feedback and adapt to changing market conditions and evolving customer needs.
Becoming the best version of an organization is an ongoing journey that requires commitment, adaptability, and a relentless focus on improvement. It involves aligning strategy, culture, and operations to create an environment that fosters excellence and supports the organization's purpose and goals.
Leadership Coaching Tips Part 1: Don't put together a Tiger Team, Study Group, or Think Tank to achieve these 10 Steps. Do them yourself! Take ownership as a leader and Do The Doing. Don't assign these 10 Steps for your subordinates or others to do; bring the team together and lead, coach, and mentor them through the 10 Steps. Don't hire a consulting team to develop an executive strategy for your review; just read the 10 Steps and Do The Doing? If you need help, find some leaders within your organization and get them excited about the journey. If that is a problem, then look in the mirror and get yourself a leadership coach to help you to help your organization. You now have a hint and a clue of what to do and how to do it; the only thing missing is your commitment to being the leader your team needs you to be and the action behind your commitment.
Leadership Coaching Tip Part 2:
Get excited and have fun engaging your team toward achieving the 10 Steps. Since people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care, show them how much you care. Increase your EQ level by not only putting in the energy it takes for your organization to become the best version of itself, but also doing the same for yourself. In my Part 1 post, I added an asterisk (*) next to a few steps but did not explain why. If you still have not figured it out, the answer is people, and you are one of those people.
Remember, in order to Become, there may be things you have to Overcome. Sometimes life sucks, and so do situations. That's how you achieve experiences and wisdom. As we say in the military, embrace the suck, then get past it. As a leader, it's your journey and privilege to lead your team to victory. They are counting on you.
Finally, if for some reason you are not able to figure it out and achieve the 10 Steps, call me or another leadership coach, and we will coach you through it. 2030 is in the future; where are you?
