Becoming THE Authority in Your Industry

If there is one thing I have found that makes people the ultimate authority on a subject is to be the one speaking and teaching on that particular subject.

When you move from being the one doing the work to the one teaching the things that are required to get the work done, that is when you become the authority.

So, how do you get to that point?

I've came up with a methodology that has helped myself and my clients become the authority in their industry. I won't be able to go into all the details here, but I will give you the framework of how this works and some helpful steps that will allow you to take action today.

In the image above you will see 5 parts:

1. Vision
2. Confidence
3. Clarity
4. Impact
5. Authority

You can't do any of these parts out of order or you will not gain the authority in your industry like you would hope.

Let's break down all 5 parts!

Vision: As Simon Sinek says, "Begin with the end in mind." We have to have a vision of what we want and where we are going to go. Without first seeing yourself as the authority and what that looks like exactly, you will not be able to move forward to the next point, because a mind that is unclear is one that isn't confident and a confused mind won't make a decision.

Once you do have your vision in place we can move on to confidence.

Confidence: As you take action on your vision you will gain confidence. Confidence is something that is built up over time and a self belief in yourself that you can do it and make a difference. So start taking action on the vision you have to build up that confidence.

Clarity: This is similar to vision, but it builds on confidence and action. As you take more action and move more towards the vision you have, you will get more clarity on your messaging and your purpose for becoming the authority in your industry.

Keep taking action and going one step at a time and the direction you need to go will continue to get clearer and clearer.

Impact: Built upon the backing of action, confidence, and clarity, impact will be an inevitable by-product of your efforts. As you continue to impact more people, more people will talk about you, your confidence and clarity will increase, and you will become more recognized for what you teach on.

Authority: Finally, with enough impact you will become the authority in your industry. This is something that can take years or even decades to accomplish, but given enough time and impact you create it will come!

Now what does this method have to do with speaking?

It has everything to do with speaking!!!

Why? Because, you have to start speaking on your subject to be able to teach on it and get to the impact and authority you want.

To get to the big stages and share with others that have came before you.

Speaking on a stage on a particular topic is the ultimate way to gain the authority on your subject in your industry and you can start today to build yourself into that authority by doing the following 3 daily tasks.

1. Converse with someone more than just the basic friendly greetings.

2. Record a video of what you’re thinking about or doing today.

3. Write your thoughts on paper.
