[This is part three of a five-part series addressing aspects of authenticity.]

Many ideas are easy to understand, but harder to behaviorally embrace. Authenticity is one such idea for many of us.  We like the idea:  being a bit more aligned with our true selves and allowing this alignment to be reflected in how we speak and act.  Less posturing, more candor and honesty.  I’m not suggesting that it’s a good idea to be fully unfiltered all the time.  That would become strange quickly.  Yet, because we all censor so often, I’m merely suggesting that, on average, we can be more real.

I just love this. Two of the great purposes in my life are, 1) becoming more of who I really am and 2) being better able to reach into the heart of others to help them become more of who they really are. Becoming authentic--being REAL--serves both of those purposes so nicely. When people can relate to you under the skin they have developed for themselves, it can give them the permission and safety to be real with themselves. Thank you so much for this article. I especially love "What part of you must die". This really challenged me years ago when I read something about letting the ego die--so scary at first--but seriously, there is more comfort and safety in it than it seems.

Oh my heavens man, you're speaking to my soul.? Each of these points have been the full of my actions for the past few years and new layers of authenticity seem to keep emerging while every point you just made is replaying itself over and over.? Wow, I love this.? Thank you for articulating so well.?

Thank you for these great tips Todd Dewett, PhD.? Great things can happen if we all get a little more 'real'
