The heart of a volunteer is never measured in size, but by the depth of the commitment to make a difference in the lives of others - Deann Holiis
Volunteering is a small step towards showing that you care. Since its inception, Volunteering has been a very important and key pillar in Udayan Care across all its programs. Volunteers bring diversity, inclusion, and energy to each of the Udayan Care programs and supports in strengthening its governance and management.
?With the Udayan Care Volunteer Programme, you can be a part of my NGO and share your time, skills, and resource in uplifting and ensuring capacity building and learning for children who are part of our journey
Volunteers and resource people from India & across the world enrich our children by holding several capacity-building and professional workshops from time to time. Some of the trustees and advisory board members also contributed their skills and expertise towards making Udayan Care a professionally managed organization.?
I find it imperative to share the story in brief about my volunteering journey at Udayan Care.
I and my wife got enrolled as part time volunteers’ way back in 2009 through a TEACH INDIA program. I was at that time working at a senior position in TataTeleservices Limited.
I would visit the Udayan Care children’s home after office hours or on Weekends’. My engagement with the children in the home was by helping them with academics as well as playing both indoor/outdoor sports .It continued this way till 2013, when I finally decided to plunge into full time volunteering.
Today I can state with full confidence that the journey of last 8 years at Udayan Care has been most fulfilling and satisfying. It has in helped me to understand more closely about what is GIVING BACK all about. As per my strong opinion, it should be the purpose of life for every individual beyond a certain age which in my case turned out to be at 53 years (8 years back)?
As Mother Teresa‘s one of the most important quote states “GIVE TILL IT HURTS”. I am trying to practice this as much as possible.
?Every year Udayan Care organizes programmes to help vulnerable children from different communities. Volunteers team up together and manage these events for engaging children in activities. In ?2019, at Udayan Care annual summer camp 17 Udayan Ghars, 205 children, 27 young adults, and 40 staff members came together to be a part of Udayan Care annual summer camp at Jagshanti Udayan Ghar, Greater Noida. Like every other year, children engaged in activities like dance, music, experiments, science, art, and craft. The activities were planned, organized and monitored by our volunteers and employees. Below are few pics of the event of our Annual Summer camp in June 2019.

We believe that each person can contribute something in their unique way. My NGO has developed a comprehensive volunteer and internship programme that ensures each person′s skills and preferences are matched perfectly with our needs. The time spent with Udayan Care becomes a win-win situation for each one of us.?
My NGO has long-term and lifetime volunteers like members from the Udayan Care board of trustees, Udayan Ghar mentor parents, Udayan Shalini Fellowship (USF) program core committee members, Udayan Shalini Fellowship conveners, etc. Each one is committed to delivering quality knowledge to children, girls and young adults and guiding them to become responsible citizens of India. This year, we are privileged to have 166 new interns and 116 volunteers from colleges and universities for several Udayan Care projects. My NGO also gets support from international volunteers and interns from countries like the United States, Portugal, Germany, Spain, Columbia, and Brazil.
We also get support from the medical community and academic fraternity, where doctors and principals join hands with Udayan Care for a better future.
It is important to state that we were awarded Leaders in Volunteer Management by i-Volunteer in 2018 and were rated Top-ranked Organization in 2019, by Global Giving, for our active engagement in the community
