Become a part of 'giving in dignity' while building a living legacy. America in self-reflection.

The giving community assisting the marginalized is a generous people, and those served are incredibly grateful. There is no 'but', or 'however'. It works for the mainstream culture. There are lotions, soaps, shampoos, food, hats, scarves, kleenex, and combs.

The goal is to make sure marginalized do not smell, and look presentable. It is accomplished. I've been thinking this holiday season that responses to unemployed and discouraged could be taken to the next constructive level. What if an organization began that gave fishing poles and bait? What if they were given gently used sewing machines to produce goods? What if they were seen as simply humans who needed encouragement and someone to believe in them? What if an organization began to match those with skills with those who needed them? Did mainstream know there are as many different people in the marginalized community as there are in the mainstream community? I've have spoken to vast numbers of people, all with talents and skills - but no support in spirit or supplies.

My next thought? Where do the old fishing poles go when an improved version is a Christmas gift? If a snow blower were given to a man he could earn some money with dignity. Afterall, dignity is the equity to restore humanity - not money. It is the ground floor difference between those viewed as 'fully human' and those who are not. This restoration, and Intelligent Donations would require connection from the larger community to inquire the strengths of the struggling to find what is needed - what they REALLY need. This would be an opportunity for America to come together, possibly apprentice together for skill building.

Cultural Constructs:

The most dangerous thing in America is perceptions. If you have not experienced something first-hand, a complete understanding is nearly impossible. A healthy view of each other is crucial for a healthy culture.

This is a story of my sister, Joyce.
