How do you brand yourself as an influencer?

An influencer is someone who has the power to affect others' purchasing decisions because of their authority, knowledge, position, or relationship with their audience. Influencers can influence potential buyers of a product or service by promoting or recommending the items on their social media platforms.
Importantly, to become the influencer in your industry you must leverage your personal brand and establish yourself as the recognised authority. Becoming the authority, gives you the status to leverage and capitalise to become the influencer in your field or industry.
An influencer who has built a reputation for their #knowledge and expertise on a specific and is able to inspire or guide the actions of others. Someone who can persuade others to do, buy, or use the items they use.
Influencers can impact consumer behaviour; generally, their following is within a distinct niche, with whom they actively engage with.
Industry experts and thought leaders such as journalists can also be considered influencers and hold an important position for brands.
Like a thought leader, influencers though have usually gained their reputation more informally through their online activity such as through the quality of the social posts they make.
Industry leaders and thought leaders gain respect because of their qualifications, position, or experience about their topic of expertise or because of the reputation of their workplace such a prestigious publication or law firm known for its high calibre recruitment.
These experts include Journalists, Academics, Industry Experts and Professional Advisors.
A journalist writing an article, becomes an influencer like a blogger or a social media influencer except there is no fee or income derived from the article.
Influencers who may be bloggers and content creators often work with industry leaders and thought leaders, and quote them in social media campaigns.
What defines an influencer? An influencer is a person who is
1. regarded as an expert within their field
2. has a steady following.
3. people trust their opinions
4. their endorsements carry a considerable amount of weight.
What qualifies you as an influencer?
Influencers in social media are people who have built a reputation for their knowledge and expertise on a specific topic. They make regular posts about that topic on their preferred social media channels and generate large followings of enthusiastic, engaged people who follow their advice.
Online activity can play a central role in offline decision-making, allowing consumers to research products. Online influencers have become marketing assets because of their relationship with their followers. These social-media influencers establish themselves as opinion-leaders with their followers and may have persuasive strengths such as attractiveness, likeability, niche expertise, and perceived good taste to impact their follower’s purchasing behaviour.
Influencers have specialized knowledge, authority or insight into a specific subject. Their pre-existing presence in a niche makes them a useful launching pad for brands in search of credibility There are four categories of influencers: mega-influencers, macro-influencers, micro-influencers and nano-influencers. A study in 2017 confirmed that 85% of marketers engaged in influencer marketing and 92% said their campaigns were effective. This indicates influencers are trustworthy voices in their specific niche.
