Become an AI Thought Leader With What's In Your Fridge

Become an AI Thought Leader With What's In Your Fridge

Silicon Valley's Big Tech firms have changed our world, and their leaders' achievements are impressive.

But their hubris is really annoying.

This is why I was delighted when an unknown Chinese hedge fund full of quiet nerds released DeepSeek: a model with similar capabilities to ChatGPT and Claude, but that's 44 times cheaper to run.

For innovators working outside Silicon Valley's bubble, this is a huge opportunity. Here's one way to use DeepSeek to your advantage right now:

Your Quick Path to AI Thought Leadership

Being seen as an AI thought leader is a powerful career hack today.

Whether you're eyeing a C-suite role, planning to raise funds, or launching a government initiative, showing you're hands-on with frontier tech sets you apart.

Here's the simplest way to start:

  1. Take any task
  2. Run it through both DeepSeek and your usual AI tool (ChatGPT/Claude/Gemini)
  3. Share your comparison on LinkedIn

If you’re not sure what work task to do, just tell the models what you have in your fridge and ask it to come up with healthy recipes. See which one comes up with the tastiest options, and then tell people about it.

I know this sounds so simple, you might not believe me that anyone will care.

In my experience, they do. I ended up being interviewed in The National and Khaleej Times, the UAE’s leading newspapers, about fairly basic AI observations.?

Why This Works (Especially Now)

Even if your LinkedIn feed is flooded with AI posts, remember: these are still frontier technologies. Most people haven't tried them yet.

Just by experimenting and sharing your experience, you're already ahead of the curve.

In our Tech for Non-Technical Founders course, every student learns to use AI to build test products. My aim is not to turn them into AI experts, but to help them test ideas quickly and cheaply.?

The same principle applies here - you don't need deep expertise to start building valuable experience.
