Easier said than done, but being good manager requires good management skills.

If you think you learn these skills in B-schools, you're wrong.

You need to actually develop some skills to be leader.

Are you ready to up your game and become a true asset and leader to your organisation?

Here are the five management skills you MUST HAVE to become an ace in your organisation:

Skill #1: Interpersonal Skills

It is of utmost importance that you build good working relationships with all the people in your organisation, not just your department. For this, you need good interpersonal skills that allow you to build successful relationships.

This skill can be inculcated by effectively communicating and investing time to know the people you work with. If you’re a manager, you can do this through team-building exercises and social activities.

Skill #2: Communication Skills

It is very important for you to understand the key principles of communication and master all forms of communication, be it written, verbal, or your listening skills. In a workplace, you’re going to come across various people, both inside and outside your department.

With good communication skills, you will be able to build trusting relationships within and outside of your team and be able to form a strong network.

Skill #3: Problem-Solving Skills

It is important for you to be able to tackle and solve the problems that may arise during the work.

You should be able to identify the problem and determine the best way to deal with that problem. This also includes your ability to bring people together to solve problems with you.

Skill #4: High EQ

With high levels of EQ, you will be able to build relationships that last, reduce individual and collective stress of the team, and improve job satisfaction among those who work with you. It has the potential to increase employee retention and team efficiency.

Skill #5: Coaching and Mentoring

If your employees see you as a coach or a mentor rather than as a boss, your organisation is going to yield more positive results and grow more. It is true that managers need to be in-charge, but it is important to also remember to be able to lead people through trust, motivation, and influence while doing that.

There is a chance that you might have heard some of these tips before. But remember that even if you feel like you have these skills, there is always more that you could learn.

Nowadays, many becomes manager easily thru influence and corporate politics. Management skills is something that is acquired from long experience. Managers must have a mindset of a "leader" not a "boss".
