Beck Earns Two DBIA Chapter Awards

The Beck Group earned two Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) chapter awards. The Rocky Mountain Chapter recognized Beck's office development project, One Platte in Denver.

Meanwhile, the DBIA Southeast Chapter honored the firm's Bed Expansion at Grady Memorial Hospital's Critical Care West Tower with a Gold Award for Healthcare.

One Platte

The DBIA Rocky Mountain Region recognized One Platte with an Award of Merit.? As the premier office offering on Platte Street, One Platte marks the culmination of development in the Central Platte Valley. This project transformed a once underused city-owned surface parking lot into a vital asset for the area.

One Platte offers a tailored response to its unique location between I-25 to the west and Platte Street to the east. The project faced added complexity due to the evolving landscape of the pandemic.

Beck provided integrated design-build services for this 240,000 SF, 5-story mid-rise office building. The site includes two below-grade parking levels with 303 spaces. There is also a rooftop sky lounge boasting impressive downtown views, a solar garden and ground-floor retail. Other amenities include the impressive 3-story atrium lobby, a fitness center, conference space, a community kitchen, and spacious office areas.

Additionally, One Platte has earned LEED Gold Certification, WELL Certification, and WIRED Score Gold Recognition. It was recently recognized with a Mayor's Design Award.

Grady Memorial Hospital Bed Expansion Critical Care West Tower

The Grady Memorial Expansion project received a Gold Award for Healthcare from the DBIA Southeast Region.

Facing an urgent need for expanded ICU capacity due to the closure of a nearby hospital, Grady Memorial Hospital responded swiftly. The project involved adding two state-of-the-art, 26-bed critical care units on the ninth and tenth floors.

Encountering unforeseen conditions, particularly in an older facility like Grady, is common in renovation projects. This endeavor required significant infrastructure upgrades to support the new program. Using its unique integrated design-build delivery method, Beck maintained flexibility and agility, surpassing the constraints of traditional project delivery methods.

The efforts of the team, including owner representation and trade partners, were integral to the project's success, ensuring completion on schedule and within budget. Beck provided integrated architecture, construction, and preconstruction services for this renovation.
