Welcome back to the BECIS newsletter. This is our first edition for the year, and I wanted to thank you for your continued trust and partnership with us.

In 2022, BECIS and the clean energy industry experienced strong growth. As Covid-19 restrictions are lifted in most of our region and businesses go back to normal, we look forward to what this year holds in store for us.?

Sustainability continues to be a key conversation, and we are excited to see many organizations around the world continue their efforts towards achieving net zero emissions. As an “Energy as a Service” (EaaS) provider with diverse solutions and initiatives, we are eager to help companies across the region achieve their sustainability goals. In 2023, BECIS will continue its expansion beyond legacy solutions of solar and bioenergy to new solutions such as heat recovery, cooling and energy optimization to support organizations make the transition to renewable energy.

We share some of our latest initiatives and work with our customers in this newsletter and we hope it will inspire new ideas. I look forward to the next steps in our partnership!

Green hydrogen: A smart solution for Southeast Asia?

Despite ASEAN countries pledging to reach net zero by 2050, many are still not utilizing green – or renewable – hydrogen. Most continue to use grey hydrogen, which produces significantly higher carbon emissions than green hydrogen, for manufacturing and agriculture. How can ASEAN make the transition? To reduce production costs, smart policy approaches are needed. Establishment of national hydrogen strategies, investment in hydrogen infrastructure, and the implementation of a carbon tax could make green hydrogen affordable for hard-to-decarbonise industries. Expanding the boundaries of biomass energy

Biomass energy is not new to the renewables market, but Researchers at Aston University in Birmingham, England?are challenging the boundaries using unwanted rice straw from Indonesia. The technology will produce 100g of hydrogen from 1kg of biomass – creating a cost-effective and sustainable solution for organisations. Read more >>

BECIS Cambodia continues to provide sustainable solutions in Cambodia through joint ash management collaborations

In 2022,?BECIS connected with Cambodia Institute for Research and Rural Development (CIRD) ?and provided them with husk ash that they can convert into fertilizers to support farmers. The collaboration represents the next step towards promoting environmental sustainability while supporting the country's local farmers.?

In 2023, BECIS expanded this circular economic collaboration and signed a?Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Huy Yun Agriculture Co. Ltd . The partnership allows for the cooperation between BECIS and Huy Yun to produce natural fertilizers, in further support of Cambodia’s agricultural sector, whilst tackling growing climate concerns.
