Because We Care – Ocean Health contributes to a more sustainable environment

As a pharmaceutical and healthcare company, we at Hyphens Pharma believe that improving people’s lives goes hand in hand with nurturing the environment.?

In a recent series of seabed clean-up dives by Our Singapore Reefs supported by Ocean Health, a Hyphens Pharma brand, a total of 697 pieces of marine debris were retrieved from the seabed off Singapore’s Southern Islands, totalling approximately 135kg. This assortment ranged from plastic and metal packaging, barbecue equipment and clothing, to surprising finds like furniture and appliances including swivel chair frames and electric fans, a ship’s anchor and even a ladder that appeared to have broken off a playground slide.

The discovery of these items signals a concerning future for our seas, highlighting the inextricable connection between our consumption, waste management habits and the urgent need to preserve our oceans and marine ecosystems. Solidifying our commitment, seabed clean-ups have become an integral part of Ocean Health’s annual efforts to do its part for the environment.

In mapping out Ocean’s Health Sustainability Commitment, we’ve become increasingly aware of our role and potential in preserving our planet and curbing global plastic consumption. Besides contributing to seabed clean-ups, Ocean Health is committed to enhancing the eco-friendliness of its packaging. This includes introducing refill packs for best-sellers like Omega-3 Fish Oil supplements and more recently, Evening Primrose Oil supplements. These refill packs use 90% less plastic (in comparison to the large Ocean Health supplement bottle) and encourage customers to re-use their current bottle.
