Because Local Service Matters

Recently providing a new GPS solution for Longridge based Ribble Farm Fare has really brought a few things close to my heart into focus.

The vehicle tracking industry doesn't have the best reputation and most fleet providers are cold called several times a day which puts them off talking to anyone. There's a lot of "salesmen" out there and fair play to them, I know they win business against me, but without the service I'm sure their customer retention is nothing like mine!

In the past I've provided solutions to companies from St. Austell to Elgin and always provided telephone support but it's always going to be too far to pop in for a bit of catch up training. Having two daughters aged 5 and 2 has also meant I'm not as keen to travel so far when within an hour's drive of Blackburn there are so many companies crying out for better service from their tracking provider, as well as Lancashire, Manchester, Liverpool and West Yorkshire are all just a stone's throw away.

Provider is the key word there. I see my customers as partners, it's my role not only to recommend and implement the most relevant solution to their needs and budget, it's to ensure they make the most of the technology and information provided. If they don't do this I fail. There's no call centres and speaking to a different person everytime you need the simplest thing, my customers ring me, I take away the hassle, I make it easy, no raising job tickets for something that can be talked through to remind how to access information, no waiting two days for a call back.

Ribble Farm Fare is a perfect example of this. They're a very visible local company, every day I'm on the road I see their distinctive orange and green vans. Eight years ago I unfortunately missed out on implementing the system to an multi-national competitor, "one of the big boys". In fact They're still under contract until later next year on many of the vehicles.

With that in mind, what would make them want to change systems? Service. As simple as that. They weren't receiving it and wanted to deal with a local partner who would visit regularly to ensure they are attaining the most from the new technology. For Ribble Farm Fare that was worth paying for two systems for over a year because at least one would be operating correctly with the local service and support so often lacking without a local connection.

Ribble Farm Fare aren't just numbers to me. They are a valued partner I will see grow and evolve and I will feel a part of that by regularly monitoring their use of telematics to help move them forward and leave their competitors behind. We're only on stage one of the implementation path, they have several options to add to their package as and when they are comfortable to do so. They have built a foundation that will grow with them to automate many manual processes and integrate completely with their existing in house software.

But that's for the future........................and I'm delighted I'll be a part of it.
